What a great way to wrap up the Written in the Stars trilogy! I fell in love with Margot in book one, and seeing her have the chance to find love was everything I needed. This book is about Margot and Olivia, two childhood best friends who had a spring break where they were finally together, and then Olivia went back to her boyfriend. They meet each other again at the start of this book after eleven years of no contact. Attraction and feelings in general are still VERY much there.

Some Highlights:
  • So many tropes! Second chance romance, best friends to lovers, miscommunication trope (but it’s acknowledged as a thing that’s infuriating and we love when a character is self-aware so I’m not mad about it)
  • The spice, just, A+
  • Holy shit, I hated Luke with such a passion even though I’m sure he’s FINE.
  • The way that they managed to tie together all three stories (Darcy/Elle, Brendon/Annie, and Margot/Olivia) by the end made me really happy.
  • My only issue and the reason “Enjoyment” didn’t get a 10 honestly just had a lot to do with me? I related to Margot a little too much and honestly I think I ended up jealous of her since she got a happy ending lol. I wish I was joking.

I am so glad that I own this book because I definitely see myself using this one as a comfort read in the future.

ESCAPES Rating:
Enjoyment - 8 | Start - 9 | Characters - 10 | Atmosphere - 10 | Plot - 10 | End - 10 | Style - 10

This is easily my most favorite of this series, and it definitely ended with a bang. Banging. LOTS OF BANGING. I was not prepared for the level of SPICE in this installment, but I wasn't exactly upset about it. It can be read alone but I would definitely recommend reading the previous two books in the series. It helps to have some background knowledge of the other characters, as they continue to play a major role in this book.

I loved Margo and Olivia, and I thought their story and history was really amazing. I think the one thing that has frustrated me most in this series is the miscommunication trope -- because omfg, why can't they just TALK ABOUT THINGS (it would save so much time)?!??!?!!?!? But while this was a used trope again, it wasn't quite as painful as I remember the two previous books being, and I really enjoyed the tension (and spice) between them before they finally had the talk.
I'm glad Elle finally had THE TALK with Margo, and god, that feeling of relief when two characters finallllllllly admit their feelings for each other? It's a relief.

There's also a Cat, and I love the cat.

The smut is.....wowza. Let's just say my drives to and from work got a LOT more distracting over the last week, lmao.

I'd love to pick up the physical copies of these books eventually. I enjoyed them enough that I'd read again -- I just wish we could avoid the miscommunication trope at times.

not much to say about this one. i just don’t think this is for me. overly cliché and overly cringey a lot of the time. there was little to no character development and the friendship group wasn’t rounded out at all. a disappointing conclusion to the series unfortunately :/ my favourite character was Cat, who was, in fact, a cat. i’m still going to go back and read the first books but this felt very much like a sequel and didn’t really stand on its own well even if it’s a completely separate story. the smut had more emotion than the actual story oops
