This was a very cute and heartwarming end to the trilogy! I loved Margot and Olivia, and I saw myself in a lot of their core conflicts.

Normally, I'm a huge fan of friends-to-lovers. Okay, huge fan is actually an understatement because it's really my favorite trope ever. This book just didn't do it the justice I had hoped for.

There wasn't a lot that I enjoyed about Count Your Lucky Stars, if I'm being really honest. Both of the protagonists were pretty unlikable, lacked basic communication skills, and weren't very mature for adults. I wanted them to just talk with one another about the awkward situation they went through in high school… that, by the way, could've been not at all awkward if they'd just talked then, but… they kept avoiding it and avoiding it until the weirdest possible moment.

When they finally did talk? I had this moment of "AWW yay - they're cute and happy now." But what happened next? I'm not even talking a third act break-up. I'm talking WITHIN THE SAME SCENE, the conversation went from them discussing their past and deciding to be together long-term to a massive argument for no real reason aside from a lack of faith in someone's parent???

Truly, I just wanted both of them to take a breather and look at the big picture like 30x throughout the story. I couldn't help but find myself getting frustrated over and over again. It could've been cute. It really could've been. But this one fell so flat for me.

I'll preface this by saying that I have not yet read the other 2 in the series.
I liked the initial set up, young wedding planner gets her big break arranging a huge wedding last minute just to find out that her childhood friend and one that got away is the best woman for the wedding.
I feel like this concept wasn't really utilised to its fullest - especially when another big trope
"and they were roomates"
is introduced REALLY early. Having two big tropes like that felt like way too much to me.
They are cute together and have a lot of chemistry but I felt pretty let down overall by this one. Communication is an issue the whole way through. Personally, I didn't enjoy the way things were hashed out.
It soured things for me that they got together and then straight away talk about the lack of communication that caused things to go bad 10 years prior and then its just left? I might be bitter but if I were Olivia I would've been a bit upset for a while after I found out the person I'd really wanted, who told me to get back with my ex, had been angry with me about it for years when she never suggested wanting anything different. Not a deal breaker but I'd be a lot more timid about going into things.

There was also A LOT of the couples from the last two books. They had in jokes I didn't get most of the way through. Also, because they were the protagonists of the previous books they're just so perfect and happy that it felt a bit dull.
Olivia didn't have any friends. Her coworkers are only shown at the very beginning (and huge missed opportunity in my opinion) abd the only other people she really communicates with are her ex-husband and dad.
I really didn't like the 3rd act conflict. I found both the characters annoying through it.
If your girlfriend is in a panic and she's an hour drive away from clarity and peace why would you be so set against her going when your big point against it is "wanting her to do things for herself".

For me this didn't have nearly enough pining.
Also...we don't even get to see the wedding.
Or find out what happened about the stolen car. That just never gets addressed!

I was honestly such a huge fan of Written in the Stars so I was super excited to see the 3rd book in this series was another sapphic romance.

This had so many tropes I love: childhood best friends to lovers, reunions, roommates, second chance romances. So I knew I'd probably love it and I did.

The writing style was great, the sex scenes were very hot, and the chemistry between the characters were great!

I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more sapphic Alexandria Bellefleur books in the future.

My only warning would be for frequent mentions of past toxic hetero relationship with mentions of cheating, some emotional abuse, and other forms of toxicity.

Hang the Moon disappointed me, but I assumed there was just something with me and second books so I gave this one a go anyway, and... yeah, no. Margot and Olivia had the potential for the same charm as Darcy and Elle, and struck out at so many turns. Being unwilling to speak about their history and present, and what that means for their future - for all Margot is lauded as someone blunt and honest, it was frustrating to watch her make assumptions about what Olivia wanted while also being kind of a dick to any hanger-ons. And while I understand her final point about Olivia taking things for herself, I don't think that Olivia's nonresponsive, once-ailing father was the hill to die on. When Hang the Moon just kind of dragged, this one frustrated me. Written in the Stars was wonderful, so I hope Bellefleure can tap into that charm again.

As much as I really wanted to enjoy this book, the misunderstandings really killed me. Even though I understood why and how Margot and Olivia were acting the way they did, it did not stop me from feeling super frustrated until I unfortunately stopped enjoying it.

However, I will admit I might have done myself a disservice since I did choose to read this book first instead of starting from the first book in the series so that might also be part of why I did not enjoy it that much. Also the fact that I was super excited to read this so when it didn’t quite reach my expectations, it just fell flat from then on.

Anyways, I enjoyed the first half of the book, the anticipation of the two main characters meeting again and the whole rekindling their friendship, them not being sure how the other felt, but then they actually got ‘together’ and whilst I was super happy and excited for a short bit, it all went downhill for me from there. Which is ironic, considering isn’t that what it’s all about?

Especially the argument between the two of them and then literally everything that could go wrong going wrong for Olivia just when she’d made that promise to Margot made me want to throw the book across the room. I expected it, because of course that was going to happen, but that didn’t mean it hurt any less.

I definitely think this is a case of it’s not the book, it’s really just me, so despite that, I do think it’s a good book and fairly well written and only wish I’d enjoyed it more.

Super cute continuation of the friends in the “Written in the Stars” trilogy. Margot sees her best friend from high school who she was in love with after 11 years. She is planning her current best friends wedding. Margot ends up letting Olivia take the spare bedroom in her apartment. They rehash their old ways of “fooling around” until they both realize they still like each other.

... I forgot how spicy this series was ...

I really enjoyed this book though. I absolutely breezed through it.

I loved getting to know more about Margot as a person rather than her just being Elle's friend. She's the last one in the friendship group to be single so obviously she's third-wheeling it a lot. Then in comes Olivia ...

I liked Olivia and Margot's relationship from the start - the awkwardness of meeting again after 11 years followed by moving in together after Olivia's apartment disaster, I mean what's the worst that could happen!

I do like the friendship between Margot, Brendon, Darcy and Elle but I would've liked it to be focused a lot more on Margot than the others. It felt more like a general book about all these characters rather than a Margot-centric book.

I hate Luke and Brad. I understand why Brad was mentioned but his relationship with Olivia was just toxic and the fact that Olivia was allowing it really annoyed me. Luke was completely unneccesary.

Overall, this was a great end to the series though I have to say that WRITTEN IN THE STARS is my favourite.

Agh I loved this one so much!! Definitely my favorite of the series.

Count Your Lucky Stars is the finale in the Written in the Stars trilogy. This time we're focusing on Margot and her ex best friend, Olivia. When the two reunite after ten years, it's almost as if the stars have aligned. Olivia is the new wedding planner for Annie and Brendan, and when she gets the awful news that her apartment has flooded, Margot offers her spare room. The two begin to grow closer again and maybe they'll finally get some closure over what happened last time.

I love this series so much. Every book got better for me and I fell even more deeply in love with all these characters! Margot and Olivia are both dealing with fears that felt so realistic to me. I related a lot to both of them. I love their personalities and how well they complemented each other. Plus seeing Olivia pulled into the friend ground was soo cute!

There's also a cat in this one and I am a fan. Agh I wish this series was over. I loved the astrology and the romance and everything. I'm definitely going to miss these characters!

"Reunion with first love" meets "roommate AU" meets "miscommunication as a plot device" meets "mutual pining" in Count Your Lucky Stars.

This book was...fine. I was determined to see it through to the end, but it was less because I cared about the story and more because I knew it wouldn't take me that long and I might as well do it. The pacing was all over the place, and the characters' turmoil was either boringly repetitive or instantly resolved, no in between. So much of the plot felt contrived, and there wasn't enough charm in the rest of the narrative to let me suspend my disbelief, as is often the case with other romance novels.

I preferred Bellefleur's other sapphic romance, Written in the Stars, and I can't quite pinpoint why. Both had similar arcs, but Count Your Lucky Stars was too all over the place for me.
