This is a great young adult romantic fantasy book, which I loved listening to! The audiobook narrator was amazing, and I was kept captivated and engrossed in the adventure story.
The main character of the book is called Zarya, and she holds great magic, but she has been trapped in a prison for a while. She eventually escapes to Dharati, and she meets others who inspire her. She helps them fight against the darkness. She is amazed when passion is lit within her from a handsome stranger. Can he be trusted, and can they work together to save the city?
This is a wonderful book, which I really enjoyed, and I recommend it highly! It is a fast paced adventure, which is well written and full of adventure.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Should've got the book instead of audiobook, the mispronouncing was a major distraction and I couldn't get into the book

I feel the same as with "Trials of the Sun Queen", I see the potential for the second book. Her first books of a series aren't her strong points.
Sometimes the book got me confused with all these new words and names. I couldn't keep track of who is who and who has got which power.
The ending was very rushed for me, all of a sudden Row is back and briefly explains 'everything in a small chapter'. That didn't sit well with me.
I do like the characters (especially Yasen, Aarav, Rabin and Zarya) and the magic system. Eventhough I would like to know more of the magic, have this a bit more fleshed out or explained to us. Everything went very fast for Zarya her newfound magic, ...
Hopefully we wander a bit further then the city we have been in. I am curious about the world this story is set in.

It was a bit of a rough start for med I think reading the physical book would have been better because I spent the first half of the book just trying to figure out who was who bc my verbal processing disorder did not like so many similar sounding names of people and places. It would have helped to see the words. But once I got it all sorted the story took off and I feel I’m on the edge of my seat.
I enjoyed this book so much!! I’ve been in the mood for a fantasy and this was exactly what I needed. I’m loving that it’s slow burn, but that doesn’t mean there’s no spice to it! The development of all of Zarya’s relationships and friendships and how she’s coming into her own after being alone for so long is so good. The magic system is interesting and I think I’m following along pretty well. I am so excited to continue the series after the way this book ended! There are so many questions to answer and I’m invested! Shiromi Arserio did a great job narrating and giving each character a distinct voice. I’m looking forward to continuing listening to the audiobooks.
I received a copy of Heart of Night and Fire via NetGalley to read and review.
Zarya’s whole life has been spent guarded in captivity by her guardian, Row, until he leaves one day and doesn’t return. After Row’s apprentice, Aarav, goes to find Row Zarya finds out the magic that kept her on the cottage grounds are gone.
Zarya has no idea why she wasn’t allowed to leave, only that it was for her own protection but now that she’s free she’s looking for answers and Row to help put the pieces together.
I enjoyed going to Zarya’s journey. We only know what she knows and while I was anxious to find out why she needed protecting I was glad that the story had a great pace that kept me interested while Zarya learns more about herself. It looks like there is plenty more story to come since right now the title says it’s part of a Quartet. There’s still a lot of story to go and I can’t wait to keep reading!
