Three zombie obsessed best friends find themselves in the middle of a real life outbreak at their long awaited zombie-com.

June, Imani and Siggy are loyal followers of Human Wasteland, a Walking Dead esque series about humans during a zombie outbreak. When Zombiecon, a huge con celebrating all things zombie, arrives in their small town, they're desperate to go. But amongst the panels and autograph opportunities, there are a few strange moments...

What a fantastic book. Funny, serious in the right spots, stakes high enough for it to mean something - (read, people actually die) - a romance that honestly I could take or leave; he was nice and sweet but was it really the time? and girls figuring things out and making a go of it themselves! I'd love to see a sequel, since the girls were obviously exposed to whatever caused this. Also, how handy that this happened at a zombie convention where everyone present knew enough about zombies to fight back!

I really enjoyed this read. It's funny, cute and great escapism. I recommend it very highly.

This was a fun, YA zombie com read.
June and her besties Imani and Siggy are at Zombie Con. They're huge fans of all things zombies and a show the Con is based around. Meeting the stars (especially cute Hunter) is going to make for a great day. Missing is their friend Blair who started dating the guy (Scott) June was dating... Well, Blair is there. But not with them. June actually misses her. They've all been friends since elementary school and she is betrayed. But still human.
Then a real life outbreak happens. They team up with famous and non famous folks alike to try and survive and get out.
Strong, smart teenage characters with a little angst and little teenage love in the midst of a fast paced zombie read.

I got this book at the library this morning, it’s barely evening and I just finished it. Could not put it down!

This was a very cool take on zombie stories. Three high school besties, in the midst of dealing with real-life friendship drama and thinking about passing the SATs and where they’ll be going to college, attend a zombie convention in their small town, to meet the cast of their favorite TV show. There’s strange things along the way…”cosplayers” in hazmat suits, a man with super convincing zombie makeup biting a teenage boy, and a maintenance guy doing something with the doors.

And then during the cast talk, the maintenance guy reveals himself to be a scientist, saying that people have been infected, and they’ve all been locked in! Ha ha, clearly some overzealous weirdo caught up in the zombie convention madness, right?

And then, there’s loud banging on the doors.

This was just the right mix of creepy, fun, and suspenseful. I was pleasantly surprised! Definitely recommend this to fans of zombie stories and/or folks who think they could make it through a zombie apocalypse at Comic Con.

Okay, imagine you're going to a con where the cast of your favorite zombie-ridden post-apocalyptic show is appearing. You've hit the exhibit hall, taken pictures with the cosplayers, and are just sitting down to a panel with the whole cast... and the zombie apocalypse happens. For reals. That's how it goes down for teens June, Siggy, and Imani, attending ZombieCon! in their little hometown. They're sitting in on a panel with all the stars of their favorite zombie show, Human Wasteland, when all hell breaks loose. The girls have to put their zombie apocalypse skills to the test to survive, and June has to cope with the indignity of having her ex-BFF, Blair, who's also at the con and on the run from the undead. DRAMA.

Girls Save the World in This One is FANTASTIC. I loved every single page of this hilarious action-adventure story, with relatable teens who are sick and tired of friendship drama, dumb boyfriends, and all of these freaking zombies! June, Imani, and Siggy are quick-thinking, smart, and their friendship bond is #squadgoals. June, in fabulous teen fashion, takes time to agonize over her damaged friendship with Blair while figuring out how to escape zombies and put up with obnoxious cable TV celebrities, and Blair - the friend on the outside looking in - is proof that desperate times can bring people closer. Fans of the other zombie show on cable TV will recognize some characters, and I love the fangirl's dream come true that evolves throughout the book. Who will survive? You MUST read this to find out. Strong female characters, the power of friendship, and a burgeoning romance amidst the zombie apocalypse make this a must have.

This book took me forever to read because I was just not into it. I should have DNF it, but I always feel guilty quitting something I started.

Anyone who has been to a convention before can skip the first 40% of this book. It’s literally a play-by-play, moment for moment of everything being seen and described superfluously. It was slow and overdone. I didn’t feel engaged in the storyline because every two paragraphs j was getting a huge description of something that, in the end, didn’t matter.

The main character, June, annoyed me so much. She was over-the-top, while also being so boring and one dimensional. I felt like her friend, Imani, was a way better character, but we don’t get much from her except when her smarts come into play. It also felt like the first half of the book tried really hard to throw in some PC/social justice moments that felt completely forced and not authentic at all. Noting the racial dynamics is fine, but it didn’t play a role in the story at all, so why mention it just to mention it? I also felt like they were leading up to June admitting her love for Imani with how much she talked about her, but I guess I was just reading into that.

Once the zombie outbreak happens, the plot doesn’t get much more exciting. We meet the cast members, which is cool, I guess, but it doesn’t do anything to add to the book. The way they fight is fine, but it wasn’t all too exciting except for a few small parts. And then it ends out of nowhere. Like they’re just saved and that’s that! And please don’t get me started on how much of a cop-out the romance storyline is. Eye roll city.

I just really wanted so much more than this. The premise was such a great concept, but the execution was really poor in my eyes. I will not be recommending this to anyone.

This was a super fun, quirky zombie story. It needed a little bit of plot tightening and this would have been stellar. It felt very choppy, but not in a way that created pace - in a way that made it lag. At some points it felt like a chore to get through it.

I would recommend this for teens who want something with "zombieland" vibes for their age

Readable, but got boring at times. I probably would have liked this book more if I liked The Walking Dead :).
