This book came highly recommended by several book blogs. I first bought the ebook and then bought the audio to accompany it. I like to listen in the car on my way to work. I started listening to it on a Monday morning. I was immediately sucked into the book. And my first thoughts were, "What the hell is happening to this person in the book!?!?!?!?" I stuck with it. It turned out to be one of the best books I've read in a long time. There is a romance in there. There is some suspense. There is some pain and heartache. There is some joy and happiness. This book is worth it to buy, read, and stick with the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good story. And if you can do the audiobook, it's totally worth it. The narrators bring so much more to the story. Thanks Leylah Attar for a wonderful story.

I love this author’s poetic writing so much. This is an utterly heart wrenching and emotional story.
I loved it so much, I was still thinking of the story and characters days later.
Skye and Damien are complex and interesting. They made me feel all the emotions!
It spans from childhood through adulthood and the many characters stories are woven through present time and past/flashback scenes.
It kept me on the edge and my heart begging for mercy.
I felt SO much for the characters.
There’s love of course and hot chemistry with emotions, there’s tragedy, revenge AND there’s shocking twists and turns that are genius in my opinion.
I don’t want to spoil anything, it’s such a unique and beautiful journey.
I am mystified by the authors way of connecting people and events slowly over time and I was left feeling and thinking about it all for days after.
Amazingly unique storytelling! I loved the characters and the journey. The words are simply amazing.

~”It scared me because I saw a glimmer of all the terrifying things we’re capable of, because the human psyche is such a fragile thing, a yolk contained within a brittle shell—one crack and out it spills: a neighbor goes on a suicide mission, tribes massacre tribes, countries turn their faces away from injustices. And it all starts within, because within is where all things begin.~”

This book is so heart-wrenching-ly beautiful. I cried at many points in the book but was redeemed by many others. My heart goes out to these characters, which I felt deep in my soul. Leylah Attar takes creativity to a whole new level, in which is exciting, new, refreshing, and a new twist on "captor-captive" love trope which is either done terribly, or exceedingly well. This book trumps other modern love stories I have read, and am entranced by the plot, the characters, and the flow of the book. Leylah took her time with the characters and gave them a deeper meaning than just characters in a book. She reached out to a part of my soul that I was afraid of letting go. Just as what Damien went through, my entire being was stripped bare, fleshed out, and put back together all in between cover and back.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a new love story with as much enthusiasm as one can have!

I enjoyed this, I really did. But I found this pretty predictable. Once the heroine reveals her past, the big reveal didn't shock me. I figured a lot out way before it happened. Although, I can say this is something I frequently do. The characters were well developed and the finale was moving and very sweet. But I didn't like the heroine. I felt that she was naive, shallow, and very superficial. The ending made me like her a little more. Overall, I believe readers will enjoy this well written book.
