I'm having a love/hate relationship with this book. I really enjoyed the supernatural aspect of the story including the historical fiction aspects. I could have read a lot more about what happened in the 1700's at the Pagan Stone.

What knocked this book down quite a bit for me was the characters and their relationship development. Cal and Quinn's feelings seemed rushed and misplaced. Fox and (can't think of her name) are just there. Gage and Cybil felt like they were forgotten until the last minute. I'm still interested in the story and going to continue the series, but it's definitely not for the characters.

Book 1 in this trilogy is about a group of 30-somethings battling a demonic spirit brought to a small town by an ancient ritual. Despite the great reviews online, I found the book a bit slow and the dialogue cringeworthy (it felt like it was written by someone’s nan trying to “be cool”).
The plot in itself was ok, and she managed to mix fantasy with the modern world convincingly, so I managed to overlook the dialogue to get to the end. I was debating whether to continue the trilogy as I was intrigued to know how the story and the characters progressed but not enough to go through more of nan’s hip chat.

Ok. I'm a bit embarrassed by reading these. It's seriously ridiculously cheesy, but entertaining at the same time. It's not written to be surprising and the fantastical part of it is not particularly good and I knew the romantic aspect of things from the beginning... and I ended up skipping through most of the sex scenes... and... yeah. I guess one thing about these is that the guy characters have some heft to them. And I find them very amusing and wish I knew guys like this as they are hella funny. Their back and forth banter is easy and fairly natural. The women get some good lines too but sometimes it feels forced. Regardless... yes I've read a romance series. I got suckered into it by my dad... yes my DAD. He loves Nora Roberts. Heh.

Gostei.

Estupidamente apressada. Afinal querem convencer-nos que Cal e Quinn, conheceram-se, apaixonaram-se, tiveram crises, e falaram em casamento - tudo apenas em um mês? WHAT?

E aquela "batalha" final... Please!

Selection of the Pflugerville Book Group for October. Not a book that I would normally have picked up as I'm not much of a romance reader. Found it mildly interesting because of the paranormal elements. Realize that this is the first book of a trilogy but still didn't like that the ending wasn't really an ending, more of a trailing off leading into the next book.

A sassy, entertaining mix of supernatural historical, humor, tension, and silliness. Roberts has this the idea of three dudes and three females fated to fight evil together down cold.

A good palette cleanser between Man Booker noms.

I love this book, I must have read it about a dozen times now and I never get bored when I pick it back up again. I can always count on NR and this series especially to get me out of a rut and make me feel better.

This has been in my to read list for a very long time haha. I finally chanced across it in a thrift store and I'm quite happy I did.
The glimpses of the past add background and depth to the story. Each character feels like a real person while you're reading. I enjoy a good romance that is almost love at first sight, but still works up to it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and see how the situation is resolved throughout the series.
