I read this in less than 6 hours, which, while isn’t the fastest, is pretty fast for me. I read it as an Ebook, which honestly didn’t make a difference because of the writing style, meticulously threaded underlying themes and subtle but wholly represented trauma, abuse of all kinds and mistreatment. For the female characters, the personal development and recognition in a world that was built purposely against them by fearful and cowardly men was the best part of my reading journey. The Gilded Ones is the single best book I have read in longer than I can remember, for personal reasons, my love of what this book shows in its words, characters, themes, and for professional reasons, the amount of respect I now have for her as an author. The misogyny and slander wrongly thrown at women, and them being forced to have male escorts and having to cover most inches of their bodies because it’s what god wills, is even more representation of what is currently happening in our world today. And although some of them do it because they want to, they have been forced into that opinion by, guess who, men. Men who were afraid of them. Their power.

My rant about the awesomeness of this book is well deserved, because it needs to be praised as the piece of art it is. Namina picked up on everything we wanted her to write, and what she wanted to write and made it a masterpiece. I’ve finally, finally found my absolute favourite book ever. Spectacular.
