Some fun pulpy Trek goodness here, even though the authors really don't get Spock at all. In many ways, this novel predicts the Borg, but these two collectives were even more interesting. The authors seem to be improving from book to book.

On one side Ambassador Gailbraith's Oneness. On the other Soljenov's Totality. In the middle at stake the minds of the Enterprise crew and then the rest of the Universe. But especially Kirk and Spock and their interactions with Free Agent Sola Thane.
An entertaining re-read.

Kirk, Spock, McCoy and crew must battle the Totality - an evil form of collective conciousness called Oneness - alongside Sola Thane, whom both are in love with! Yes, she is a total Mary Sue. This book was absolutely retarded and ridiculous, but it made me laugh, so it gets three stars. Ikept waiting for Kirk, Spock, and Sola to have a threesome, but it never happened.

It's a bad book, sure. Going in blind, I did NOT expect the vague title to refer to a love triangle rather than some cool triangular sci-fi stuff. But it did get me out of reading slump because of how entertaining the nonsense in this book is. Speaking as a Star Trek fan, only read this if you want a good laugh over the sheer absurdity in this book.

Unsure what to think of the book. It was like a primitive Borg episode that was mashed up  with amok time….left me feeling underwhelmed. It was like a Spock/Kirk fan-fiction but the writer threw in a female into the mix to make everything off kilter. Long way of saying….probably best to skip.

I liked the idea of this story and the beginning three quarters. The last quarter was tedious and frustrating.

The idea of individuality and oneness, totality or hive mind (the Borg) will be one that Star Trek visits in a BIG way in The Next Generation. They dealt with it a little in The Motion Picture, though it was the B plot. In a lot of ways, I wish that it had stayed a TV series and would have been able to allow these ideas to have been played out week to week.

I liked the way that the authors were able to speak through the voices of our beloved cast of the Enterprise. They were realized and fun to read.

I have mad a lot of little thoughts about my time reading. I will post them on my Kindle for public consumption (if anyone really cares).
