This felt more like a filler book for the sake of pressing certain factors into the story, especially the fact that Artemis had to get his memory back, Julius had to die so Holly and Foaly wouldn't be stuck in the same schematic of these books: The faeries need Artemis or are after Artemis, Foaly, Julius and Holly agree to help, but keeps their eyes on him.
It was still enjoyable with lots of action and it does show the personal development of Artemis, as it wants to so dearly. It's an easily forgettable book in the series, but it's a necessary one for the story-line of the series.

Pokoknya seru semua deh, hahah, *kena keplak*.
At last, menegangkan sekali membaca petualangan Artemis kali ini. Tak sabar saya membaca lanjutannya. So, 4 dari 5 bintang untuk buku ini. I really liked it.

Artemis Fowl returns. This time, he has no memory of having ever met the People before, and yet once again, he finds himself in a mess that puts him directly in contact with them.
Followers of the series will recall that, at the end of Eternity Code, our criminal genius friend had agreed to a mind wipe in exchange for the fairies help with retrieving his stolen property.
But a series of events will soon jog Artemis' memory and it will happen just in the nick of time to save the world yet again.
These stories are creatively written and well thought out. The world the author has created in these stories is one that will find it's home in the collective hearts and minds of many readers, regardless of age or genre preferences.
These stories are fun and exciting and full of adventure. Some of the content might be a little rough for younger middle-grade readers, so use caution when providing these books to your children.

Liking this reread enough, but the issues with this series are glaring at me... The ableism, the fact that it's a bit of a cop serial..... right now.... Just leaving a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I'll probably pick up the rest of the series later on
I can't remember the last time I was so excited about reading a series! I started this series a long time ago when I was in school, but never made it past the second one. Now I'm listening to them on CD and I think narrator Nathaniel Parker is a fairy who can use the mesmer sans eye contact - he's absolutely incredible. Every character has a unique voice you can recognize instantly, and he gets all the tones and attitudes spot-on as well.
I've also been really pleased with the quality of these stories. The pace is fast, the plot's exciting, the characters are very well developed, and not a detail is forgotten!
I laughed, I cried, I gasped aloud...high-quality entertainment if you can handle a little juvenile humor, too. :)

I'm glad I was late jumping on the Artemis Fowl bandwagon. I actually feel like I wouldn't have liked or appreciated the series as much if I'd read it when I was younger (or the intended audience age).
One thing I didn't like was how jumpy the transitions were. Colfer usually goes between the fairy world and our world, at least in the beginning of his other books, but the shifts between worlds seemed especially disjointed this time. Part of it might simply be the nature of the story with Artemis' mind wipe and everything, but, for some reason, I found it really unnerving how Colfer kept jumping from scene to scene.
