A very quick, funny read. Might be best appreciated by parents.

The jokes are terrible. It made reading this a slog. I’m not sure if Backman was trying to write a persona or if he’s really this annoying. But the things he’s telling his son are worthless, or actually kind of selfish. He does stress being kind and such, but he exhibits no curiosity about who his son actually is. All the advice and stories are self-effacing, or pinning weird hopes on a toddler. Like hoping the child likes soccer because he doesn’t know much about anything else.

I loved what I’ve read from this author until now. Skip it.

If you never stop writing, I'll never stop reading. ❤️❤️ Fredrik Backman is simply the best.

Another gem from Backman - hilarious, self effacing and tender, with some beautiful descriptions of love.

Parenthood is absolutely not my thing but Fredrik Backman very much is so I gave this a go. Its a memoir told through letters from father to son, lessons on life. Letters like 'IKEA' and 'Stuff' are hilarious and only indirectly about parenting but then a chapter like 'Soccer' comes along, is directly about fatherhood but is relatable anyway and its completely beautiful because that's the only way Backman can write.
