have never hated a cast of characters more than this family. This book could be summed up as great tennis family has multigenerational trauma and just need to sit down and talk about it. The fact that the main antagonist has an issue when she walked in on the family on one bad day and took it so personally is also ridiculous. Also this did not need to be 71 chapters long we did not need the pov of every person the family interacted with or has observed the family over time either. There are a couple of good scenes on the book the fathers day chapter was good at bringing a lot of things to light. Also the chapter with the painting was also good as well. Other than that I couldn't stand half the characters in the book I hated the ended was so inconsequential nothing really happened.
If you want a who done it that will keep you guessing at what happened this might be for you. But just be prepared to soft through a lot of nothing for multiple chapters and pages.

I’m a big Liane Moriarty fan and this book was not her best. It felt rushed. The wrap up was so, so disappointing. And all the covid stuff? Completely unnecessary. Really disappointing compared to her usual fantastic stories. Honestly the only story like wrap up I liked was Logan’s.
I enjoyed the story but it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy longer than necessary.
My second Liane Moriarty book and it was okay. I really like her fun writing style. Her characters are interesting and quirky which I love. It was just a slow burn that didn't lead to much in my opinion. If it had been 150 pages shorter I think I would have been happier with it. I kept thinking okay finally we will get the big twist and it just never came.
I do like her writing style though so I'm willing to give another book of hers a try.

I enjoy Liane Moriarty's books; like most other people, I was drawn in by Big Little Lies. She's good at plotting, although the resolution of this one was a bit hokey. I did read it more or less straight through. It's reminiscent of Megan Abbot's The Turnout, as it is about a tennis (vs. ballet) obsessed family, none of whom are actually top-flight, although they are driven by their parents' (and, to be fair) their own love of the game.
