Max never foresaw being arrested on his 18th birthday. He never thought when he agreed to cover for a friend's trip to Vegas, the friend would not return. He never even considered that maybe people close to him were keeping secrets.

Great mystery, great story. One complaint is that at time the action could be a little plodding, but overall this was a wonderful read that had me anxious and excited, especially towards the end.

page turner, for real! I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in two days, which means a lot to me, being that I usually am an extremely slow reader.

Liars, Inc. lays it's foundation really quick, and waste no time getting to the action and mystery. Sometimes, predictable, but what isn't? I loved all the plot twist, especially when I thought I had it all figured out.

Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Quite possibly one of the stupidest protagonists ever.

I mentioned in my review of The Art of Lainey that I was really impressed by  how much Paula's storytelling had improved since Venom. I was even more impressed with it in this one!

The mystery aspect of this book was awesome! I really liked the secrets and lies - I love stories where the bad guy could be anyone, so you start to mistrust every single person in the story. This one was like that! At every turn I was wondering who was trying to frame Max, and second-guessing everyone's motives.

There was kind of an underlying moral in this book: That lies are like a tangled web, and the more you try to wiggle your way out of them, the more they wrap around you tighter until you can't get out. What started out as a small lie to Max ended up getting him in serious trouble! There were also times where I kinda wanted to throttle him, because if he had just told the truth from the beginning he wouldn't have dug his hole so deep. (Seriously, it's the cops, why would you continue a silly cover story?!)

I enjoyed the journey in uncovering all of the secrets surrounding Preston! It was kind of crazy, too - all the videos they found, the situation with Parvati, and the events surrounding Preston's family.
SpoilerI totally never guessed that it was Preston himself - or rather, Adam parading as Preston - setting Max up, and that it was over jealousy of a stolen life! That was insane and so was the real Preston's death O_O

I would definitely recommend this book for fans of mystery! It's fairly short and fast paced, so I gobbled it up in just a few hours. Great job, Paula!

3.5 stars.

Slightly predictable. Nice pace, although things kinda slowed down a bit around 20%. But just soldier on and you'll get to the exciting parts.

Not bad for a YA mystery novel.

Max and his friends sell lies and cover stories at school. However, this business just may blow up in their face because Preston, Max's friend and business partner, is missing and Max with his cover story is the last to have seen him.

Max is being framed, and he must find the real killer before he is taken to jail for a crime he did not commit.

Blimey, this one was full of twists and turns! It might not always feel it in today's world, but I am very glad that fiction does, sometimes, still have the capacity to be stranger than fact. It could never be 'real': but it's fiction, right? Sometimes, that's the point! Absolutely full of twists and turns, and I really enjoyed it.

Somewhere between 3 and 3,5 stars

Actually I pretty much like it. I grab this because I needed to breath some fresh air after reading 3 fantasy books in a row, and anyway I hadn't read mysteries in a while. It was a good decision, it has a good development, the characters were credible and it fulfill the mission of keeping me on the edge and without knowing what was going on almost until the end or maybe I'm just a very bad detective.

This book has an amazing cover, and is fun and fast to read, give it a try!

3-3.5 stars

First of all, the cover is absolutely brilliant. It only took me a couple of seconds to get it after finishing the book and it's a perfect depiction of what's to come.

For the most part, I found the plot enjoyable. It was captivating and there were some nice twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. That being said, I can understand why other readers might have felt meh about this book. There were definitely unrealistic (and odd?) moments where I thought, really? They're doing this? I honestly didn't mind that aspect that much, but I could see how it might annoy people.

The characters were well-written and felt fleshed-out. The main character's relationship with those around him was also incredibly interesting, especially paired with the plot of lies, secrets, and deceit. I also appreciated that while there is a romance plot, it doesn't take away focus from the mystery aspect.

3.5 stars. Once I got to about page 50, this book took hold of me. There were quite a few twists, and I enjoyed this entertaining read.
