Unaware of who the author was, I picked up this book purely because of the minimalist cover. That seems to be the only interesting and attention-grabbing part of this book. Supermarket is a poorly written novel full of overused archetypes and tropes. (Not to mention the blatant racial profiling and stereotyping of black women in the first couple of pages.) The writing style was extremely lacking, reminiscent of a story written by a pretentious high schooler. That being said, the middle portion of the book (a small portion before part two and some of part two) was tolerable and somewhat exciting, yet still cliche and predictable.
I'm giving this one 2 stars for a unique idea, but poor execution.

Not only was every female character judged and demeaned for their looks and intelligence but the sheer amount of racial stereotypes was wild. The last straw for me was the author (who also narrates the audio book) saying the n word 7 times… like, was that necessary. My life was so much better before reading this.
I finished this three days ago (the day I started reading it) and I still can’t form an opinion.

This is the absolute worst piece of shit I have ever read in my fucking life. WattPad has too high of editorial integrity to publish this dog shit. Simon and Schuster has forever damaged their reputation by publishing this atrocity. The prose is awful. The author inserts of music and movie and book recommendations are awful. The plot is just the stupidest fucking thing you could imagine. The big plot twist that’s revealed at the end of part one (like page 153-156) was so obvious I told my boyfriend what it was going to be on page 25. Then when he decides to do the same fucking twist AGAIN in part two (really stretching those creative ideas huh Bobby?) it was also just immediately obvious. Bobby has the subtly of someone killing an ant by smashing a fucking planet into it. There is nothing interesting or thought provoking here. I wrote better fan fiction in 9th grade. I cannot wrap my head around someone even tolerating this book if they’ve ever read something more adult/mature than The Hunger Games. Just an exhausting, awful waste of time.
I'm actually shocked to see how many horrible reviews there are of this book. I enjoyed it. I love Logic as an artist, and admire his willingness to discuss mental health issues, including his own history of his struggles.
The writing may not be Pulitzer Prize-winning prose, but the story is unique and multi-faceted. The story is about struggle, about not believing in yourself. In struggling to prove yourself so deeply that you drive yourself insane.. I can relate to all of these things.
I think, despite what others think, it's smart. It's hitting on some heavy topics in a light way that make the message easier to digest for a wider population of people.

Wow.... Run out and buy this now! GREAT Psychological Thriller! For lovers of Fight Club, Momento and Shutter Island.
I highly recommend this book for a number of reasons, but with discretion. I found it difficult to keep up with because the use of language and misogyny in the first part was too much to take seriously. By the second part, you understand the reasoning for it. Unfortunately it is a bit easy to guess the twist, but it doesn't make it any less entertaining, particularly for writers themselves. The characters and meta-factor make it a good read in the end.
So freaking good! A little slow to get into, but once you reach about a quarter of the way through, it gets so good, you can't put it down. It gives such an insight to living with mental illness, I loved it! Definitely a must read!
the thought of having to finish this book was putting me in a reading slump. it felt like middle school fanfiction. and pointless.
