The One

It takes the story to its climax, with the stakes higher than ever as the competition reaches its final stages. While it brings some intense emotions and a few big reveals, I found the book underwhelming overall. It lacked the lightness and charm of the previous two installments, making it harder to stay fully engaged. The characters’ decisions felt repetitive at times, and the storyline started to drag. Although the writing remains fluid, the overall experience felt disappointing compared to the earlier books.

I couldn't decide if I should give this 3 or 4, but went with 4 stars because I really was glued to the book! I was again frustrated by certain aspects of the main characters and I truly felt like some of the things they did were just ridiculous and over the top, but I needed to have the story resolved in the end.

Wish I could say I was happy to wrap this series up, but I felt like this one drug me along for the ride at one of those cheap carnivals thrown up in a mall parking lot.

I truly wanted to be invested in this book and love it like I did the first one, but there were so many missing pieces. I felt Hunger Games vibes with the rebels situation but without the background and build up needed to be successful. I felt America wanting to be like Katniss and be strong and brave but conflicted just like Katniss was, but really it just fell flat. It felt like she was more whiny than brave, and more scared than smart.

I am glad that Maxon made the right choice, but at the cost of losing so many people for him to wake up and see the light. No real closure with a lot of the characters, and ultimately just feel sad I didn’t get the “fairy tale” ending I was hoping for.

Great conclusion to a great series.

jeg likte denne serien mye mere enn det jeg trodde jeg skulle, jeg trodde jeg skulle himle med øynene og "cringe" siden jeg ikke liker lignende bøker. Boken var morsom, søt og hjertevarmende.

Yes, by the way, it was 12:00 am by the time I finished this!!!
Oh what an ending this installment was. It had me laughing, gasping, crying, sighing, and it was a major page turner! Excellent series Kiera Cass, and an unexpectedly enjoyable series as well!!!

Every story must end. Some end predictably, others shockingly...this one, AMAZINGLY. You think you know where the plot line is going, then a wrench the size of a house is thrown in and WHAM- you're on that familiar roller coaster most books take you on.
The loops you swirl through are those gut twisting turns that make you question your sanity for willingly taking the ride. Then suddenly, a straightaway stretch to catch your long lost breath. Just when you think you're alright, you drop so fast you have to wait for your head to catch up with your spinning body.
Absolute mayhem....but awesome, manically blissful mayhem.
Best book of the series, would read again! Do yourself a favor and read it and WEEP with wonder. (Review from 2014)

This is the sort of nonsensical drek that gives YA a bad name. I have not felt this much hatred towards a book since Shiver. And maybe The Barcode Tattoo. So many things are wrong with this.

I absolutely love this series and this one is no exception! I love the depth that this series takes with character development and how intertwined the characters are.

Really enjoyed the bit of drama and danger in this one. I loved the ended! Ready for the next book.
