The One by Kiera Cass is the third book in the Selection series and is the final book telling America Singer's story as the next two talk about her daughter.

If you don't know this book is a dystopian novel. It takes place in a world that every class is represented by a number. If you are poor your number ins a higher number. So the ones, twos, and threes, are wealthy and every other number is not good. The main character America Singer is a five.

In The Selection the royal family is hosting a selection for their son Prince Maxon. America puts her name in the selection and to her surprise she is becomes one of the 35 contestant. It is sort of like the bachelor.

I found the ending very predictable and I managed to figure it out in the first book. It was very obvious who America was going to end up with. Again I feel like the love triangle is forced and unrealistic.

I still find the main character America Singer annoying again. I wanted to like her in at least one book, but it didn't really happen. I did not agree with most of the decisions that America made. I still was not a huge fan of Aspen, but I liked him more than the other two books. I started to like Maxon more as well but he is a very complicated character.

I can't say much because it is a sequel so I will say this series is a guilty pleasure for me. I highly recommend you marathon the first three books at least. It is a perfect series to read if you are in a reading slump.

This series is so stupid predictable but I still kinda enjoyed it?
So let's wrap it up with things that I liked and didn't :
Things that liked :
1.I really liked the friendship dynamic between the last 4 girls .They finally accepted the fact they don't have to be enemies and that they should work together to improve their friendship.
2.Miss America had comebacks this time ( not only on tv). She didn't hold back on talking back to the king, and him dumbass son Maxon ( we'll come back to him in a second ).
3.I like that in this book America improved and that she finally realised what she wanted ( although after EVERY SINGLE argument with Maxon she was thinking about going back to Aspen , like girls make up your mind , but in the end she finally came to her senses and wasn't stupid all the way)
4. The queen was so sweet , I loved her so much (spoiler she dies at the end

Great ending (which I guessed from a mile off - aka three books ago!) but I appreciated how it was all wrapped together.

4.5**
Dit boek vind ik (tot nu toe) de leukste van de serie.

This is like the bachelor. People changed so much it was like flicking the lights on and off. I didn't think that America could get any more irritating but she did.

El final es patético; siento que perdí tiempo importante de mi vida leyendo esto.
Le doy una estrella porque no puedo darle cero.

Bueno, dos estrellas porque el desarrollo no fue tan horrible.

that DARN quote will be the death of me holy heck

Read this in one day. Love this series!

I liked this conclusion to this trilogy a lot more than the first two books (yes I know there's a fourth book but it's set 20 years later so I'm counting this as a trilogy). Finally things were happening! Although it was still predictable at times, it finally started to feel like there was more to the story than just America going "Oh I think I like him... Oh now I don't like him.. .Oh maybe i'll go back to Aspen" etc. which annoyed me too much in the second book. The characters were all a bit more developed as well. It was a nice ending to their story.

Truly guilty pleasure reads!

I have to admit that I did like this more than the second book: it had much more plot twists and nuanced plot in general (which I really appreciated), the stupid love triangle on part of America was finally gone (because it was stupid really), and the plot extended beyond the selection a bit.

The one thing I did not like was that America refused to say I love you out of principle. I guess towards the end Maxon's comment that it might have had to do with Aspen leaving her suddenly made sense, but I feel like part of it was this principle that a girl cannot say that first, whereas I think if she did, it would have solved a lot of troubles made out of sheer stubbornness.]

In general, a satisfying end to the series. And again, I have to reiterate, the series works SO well as an audiobook!!!

Also, another thing I thought unnecessary was did they really have to kill that many people towards the end? I mean the two key female losses that America endured. Did they really? I get the King (thank god they did really), but why the Queen? It felt unnecessary and a bit unrealistic that now Maxon, young and really with no experience on the throne, would have to do all of it on its own. And Celeste?? Why not like... Kris or Elaine? Elaine especially, it would have finished her character arc more completely (instead of now her going into uncertainty with her family) - Celeste I feel like could have had her own spinoff, I would have loved to see her all independent and finding someone (whatever gender) that she would love fully and without glamour.
