Lubienie Evana zdecydowanie jest moim biletem na terapię…

Although the beginning of this book was slow-paced, it piqued my interest around the fourth or fifth chapter. Best friends Piper and Hazel embark on a journey to unravel the mystery behind the high number of teenage runaways. However, they soon find themselves entangled in a chaotic situation. Despite my enjoyment of the book overall, I rated it 3.5 stars due to its protracted beginning and unsatisfactory conclusion.

Let's start with the negatives. There were a LOT of inconsistencies throughout the book. One minute our main character Piper is 16, then she's 17, then she's 16 again and later she says she's 17. Now, I don't know if this was for some reason done deliberately by the author or if this is a genuine mistake, but it did get a little frustrating. There were a few other inconsistencies throughout the book, but that's the one that bugged me most.
Now for the positives. I'm assuming that this is a YA thriller, purely for the way it was written and there was nothing too brutal going on. I mean, yes, the characters were tortured in various ways, but it was all fairly tame. So given that it was clearly targeted to a younger audience, I actually found myself really enjoying it. I won't lie, if a thriller/horror author wrote a book similar to this and aimed it at us oldies, with a little more brutality, I certainly wouldn't say no. But for what it was, it was pretty good.

The ending of this book was a twist to the twist you probably saw coming. It was one thing after the other for the last 30 pages.

This book was a amazing to read and a perfect choice if you're looking for a story that moves quickly and helps you get back into reading. The author did a wonderful job of introducing the characters, making them feel real and suited to the story's events. The plot and the characters' ages were well-matched, making the story feel believable. The only thing desired was a longer ending. It felt a little too open-ended, and a more definite conclusion would have been preferred. Still, the book is a lot of fun, and the story is engaging. Each character and how they were presented throughout the book were truly appreciated. It may not be a book that completely changes how you think, but it's certainly well-written.

what. the. freak. that’s it. that’s my review. this book kept me on my toes the whole time and that plot twist oof. i definitely was screaming with annoyance and frustration toward the end. in the back of my mind, i saw it all coming. i felt like Evan was too good to be true from the beginning but i wanted to believe he truly was good. i hate that i was right in the end in the sense that i fell for Evan being a manipulator, but it was so good with how it turned out. this book is a standalone but it so good have a sequel i think.
