📚 Review 📚

📖 That time I got drunk and saved a demon

⭐ 2.75/5

This is a funny, witty, fast paced romantasy book with a feisty FMC, paranormal romance and 🌶️ monster/human scenes

"I had only two things on my mind; cheese and how to get home"

📖 Tropes:

⚔️ Quest
🫂 Forced proximity
🚫 Touch her and you'll 😵
❤️ He falls first

"Who wouldn’t want to go off on a grand adventure with a bunch of hot heroes also chosen by the goddess?” Me bit*hes. No, thank you"

📖 What I enjoyed:

⚔️ Badass FMC
❤️ POC protagonist
😁 Banter
📝 Snarky stream of consciousness

"Ma swore, pointing her wooden spatula like a blade. “Chili! I mean, Cumin! I mean Cinnamon! Da*n, the middle child! Stop badgering the girl child!"

📖 I did not enjoyed

➡️ Instalove
➡️ Campy vibes, but doesn't go fully into camp territory, so it gets inconsistent
➡️ Plotholes (multiple)
➡️ Overpowered MMC
➡️ The combo high fantasy setting/social media slang/incongruous morals

The was short and very light but not too rushed, and kinda funny. Definitely an easy, enjoyable read, and I’m off to read the next.

Sweet and spicy, just like Cinnamon. If you're looking for excellent monster romance content, look no further.

A cute fun, cotton candy (candy floss) type read that has little to no seriousness. I mean there are some serious topics that are underlying the whole story, but it is handled well and thoughtfully and without any kind of malice. I really enjoyed this quick read. It is sickly sweet at times, but ALWAYS ALWAYS fun.

I absolutely adored this book! I was really wanting a fun, cozy, spicy read and this book delivered! It's a short story, I finished it in a few hours. It's also on KU, so deff check it out if you can.

This story follows our female main character Cinnamon, as she is heading home after a fun night of drinking. She literally saves a demon while she's drunk, lmao. The demon in question is our male main character, Fallon. After being saved, he forces Cin to go on a quest with him to kill the evil witch that has enslaved and tranced the demons of the land. Cin tags along for an adventure full of new friends, new demons, and new obstacles she has to face. Yes, one of those obstacles is Fallon's d!ck. 😅Their scenes together are sooo hot, Fallon is a dream come true and Cinnamon is eventually down for the ride. I have to give the spice rating a 4🌶️/5! Honestly, I thought this book was a great balance of spice and adventure/plot. I will definitely be reading the 2nd book in the series, as well as the novellas!

I had kind of a rocky start with this one. The world here is very strange in that it's seemingly medieval fantasy, but the main character uses very modern slang, and that threw me off for the first 25 or so pages. However, once the plot got going I found myself easing into the over the top campiness of things and just accepting what the author handed me, and once that happened I quickly fell in love. I don't think this book will be for everyone. It has the same saying that Ice Planet Barbarians has where most of the book is really lighthearted and fun and campy, but there are moments of intense violence and realism, and I know from people's responses to IPB that that's not going to work for everyone. I, however, am not bothered by that and so found this to be a really fun, quick read. I really loved the main character, and her romance with the hero was both cute and steamy, and the plot was just enough to keep me engaged without taking away from the lightheartedness of the story or the centering of the romance. I really look forward to reading more from this author and from this world, and I'm really glad that I took a chance on it.
