For some reason, I didn’t quite connect with it. It was interesting and I liked the ending, but pretty mid for me personally.

Oh my stars—this was just lovely. Toadling is such a gentle and dear little creature and I’m happy her story ended with love from both her worlds. 💗

T. Kingfisher's novella are nothing short of perfect, especially the fairy tales. This retelling of Sleeping Beauty is both cruel and beautiful. It's ending both sweet and tragic. I loved the characters and how the narration unfurled the story behind the tower.

An interesting retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale. I thought the characters were cute and endearing but generally I found this a bit boring. It was super short and easy to read but not my favourite of Kingfisher’s work. I love how the author can easily drop a reader into a well thought out fantasy world, but I wish this had more horror elements.

This was such a cute story! I love Toadling, she’s so cute and I felt really sad for the unfairness in her life. I liked Halim too, I was expecting him to be the knight full of bravado and greed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the kind of person he was.

This was a clever and interesting fairytale retelling and I loved the found family aspect, as well as the idea that not all curses are worth breaking. It was an excellent and quick short novel with an engaging storyline. I would read a whole novel of this story if it would get me more time with Toadling!
