A really fun dystopian x fantasy that’s only a little bit cringe!!

A random selection that ended up being superb! I’m excited to read the rest of this trilogy.
This was a fun dystopian romp. The characters are a little one dimensional but I still enjoyed it. Sort of a dark beach read type of thing.
Has a Nora Roberts book ever given me a glimpse into the complex nature of human existence, making me a better more thoughtful and empathetic person? 100% no. But is she entertaining and fun to read? 100% yes.
I liked the first half better than that second, but this is my favorite NR book to date.

Didn't think my first Nora Roberts book would be a cozy dystopian. Also didn't think I'd ever consider a genre that matches "cozy dystopian." 75% of the book has that low-stakes, making life work after most of the population dies... and then the rest is choppy action face-off fights.
I enjoyed most of it, but the pacing through the last 15% was off-putting and weird. Maybe I'm just being too harsh, but I was enjoying the book until the end. Maybe it gets better resolution in book 2.

I'm not really into fantasy books, including witches or faeries. So this was an odd book for me. However, I loved the apocalypse aspect of it and the fight for survival that each character engages in. It's written a bit clunky so that some of the dialogue feels very fake. There's also so many characters, which I liked because it helped to hold my interest. But towards the end the characters sort of fade away and the book focuses on one character instead. Not sure if the other characters will be mentioned in the other books, but it made me wonder why so much time was spent on each of them if they only fade away later on.
This was a book out of my comfort zone, but it was recommended by a friend and sucked me in from chapter one. Any lovers of The Stand by Stephen King I believe will enjoy this story immensely(I personally have seen two miniseries about The Stand myself).
It is about a pandemic that attacks the world and kills off 80% of the world's population. It made me grateful that our world didn't plunge into the chaos described in this novel. On top of the anarchy as well as governments and infrastructure collapsing, people start to emerge with magical powers. Like with all new things, some people are in fear of these magically gifted people and even seek out to destroy them. Now within the magical group, there are some who use their power for evil instead of good. Basically, the world becomes complete and utter chaos. There are a lot of characters in this novel and despite some reviews, I was ok keeping up with their stories. Eventually, the story settles on just one character.
This story was written in 2017 and was apparently the author's homage to The Stand, so unless she can foresee the future, the timing and popularity of this book is pure coincidence. Boy did the author luck out with this book! A highly recommended read even if you are not a fan of the genre.

Really looking forward to the next book in this series later this year!
Just couldn’t keep up with the POV changes and I can’t figure out what plot were supposed to be following
