Not my favorite of the series, may be my least favorite so far. Nothing fundamental happened, just more mysteries and confusion. In a way the plot got too complicated, very vague, and ridiculous, not a good combination. I am not sure what to look forward to in the next book.

One of the weaker books in the series. I actually don't mind at all when there's not a lot of plot stuff going on, because I don't believe C L Stone writes decent suspense at all. But there were a lot of wheels spinning and going nowhere, and the general lack of competence of everyone involved is starting to grate.

Also, as a fat middle-aged lady myself, I really, really dislike it when fatness is a sign of villainy in women. The misogyny in these books is always present, but in this one, it felt like a constant poke in the eyeball. I know I can read other books about fat ladies in their thirties finding fulfilment, and these aren't expected to be it, but it's lazy characterization, and it's offensive.

I have one more book, and I suspect that will be enough of the Academy to last me a while!

I absolutely loved this one. It had me questioning everything. Luke is such a fun character and I loved getting more information on him in this book. The Thanksgiving scene makes the whole book though. It was amazing.

ARC

The Healing Power of Sugar begins with Sang and the gang getting ready for Thanksgiving and going back to school. Things haven't been easy for them, and when Luke starts acting weird Sang isn't sure good things are happening. Sang is the one that decides she must talk to Luke to figure out what's going on with him. But when other things start happening it ends up not at all turning out how she thought it would. The gang must try to come together fix the mess they are in before it is too late.

This is the 9th book in the series and it was awesome! I love the fact that everyone knows about how to make them stay together, well everyone but a few, and Sang is just trying to figure out what she wants, and how to make it work for all of them. This book really brought out the difficulties they will all have to deal with if they stay together, but it also showed how it would be for Sang if they split up.

This was a great addition to the series, and I can not wait to read more now!

Very excited when this book came out! :) But sadly disappointed when it wasn't as good as the others:( I really wish more had happened in this book. (Mostly wish I read more of Mr. Blackbourne <3)And I really REALLY hope that Sang will become more confident in an upcoming book soon. I want to see more of Volto too.
