I was really surprised by this book. I've seen a lot of talk about it and while ghost stories aren't my typical reads, I figured it was worth a shot due to it's hype. I'm so glad that I did! I ended up reading this in a single day. Hidden Pictures is a cliché story about a kid being haunted by a ghost. Or is he possessed? Either way, something sketchy is going on!
There was a twist I wasn't expecting that made it that more impactful.
The pictures were a really nice touch. I recommend getting a physical copy instead of the audio book. Or, have both so you can follow along.
Overall it was a really fun read. A little creepy (I read it in the daytime so maybe that's why I wasn't freaked out) but a fast-paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Rekulak has a brilliant way of writing. I'm looking forward to reading more of his work.

An addicting page turner with big twists at the end. The pictures of the kid's drawings are included in the book, which really elevate the story and are an integral part of the book. For this reason I would not recommend it be read as an audiobook.
I almost rated 3 stars even though the read was enjoyable because I found the main character to be unrelatable as she is a slightly dumb Christian recovering drug addict who is a massive people pleaser and is obsessed with Hallmark movies. Oh and she can't even drink coffee because she considers that to be a drug. At one point she people pleases again and has coffee she doesn't want and almost relapses because of it. She is saccharine sweet and her viewpoint as a protagonist made most of the book read like a YA novel.
In the end the well-executed twists and satisfying ending bring this up to 4 star for me. Perfect for an engaging and breezy read that isn't at all predictable.
