Paul is what makes this story so great. He is a very fascinating character, that you just keep reading to learn more about him. From the way that Herbert describes Dune you can tell he's put a lot of time and effort into building it. The supporting characters and the politics between them can sometimes become confusing, but not enough to hamper the story. It's quite likely I'll read the sequel, just to learn more about Paul and Alia.

Given that this is not a newly-released book, I don't think I need to give a summary of it here. Suffice it to say that it is a 5 star read and one of my top reads of 2024 (so far). In real life, I am not a desert person, but while reading this book I fell completely in love with the world-building and the way of life on Arrakis. Count me a Dune fan for life.
If you are debating on reading this book because you liked the movies, I would suggest giving it a try. If it's too heavy to read in physical format, listen to the audio book!
If you are interested in the premise of the book but are intimidated by the depth of the world-building and the unique terminology and vocabulary, watch the movies first (maybe more than once!) and it will help.
