Tabloid reporter, Hope comes to Gospel, a small town in Idaho, trying to find the inspiration and put some order in her life. Except between the more or less well-kept secrets, the strange customs of the inhabitants of Gospel and the "moves" of the sexy sheriff, Hope still has surprises in store ...
Well, at first I took this romance thinking that it may resemble the books by Jennifer Crusie (original and addictive), but that romance was quite classic and not extraordinary. Call it an easy reading =) Romance is in the heart of the book and although I quite liked the sheriff and the heroin, their love story was a little too easy, the characters were pretty clichés (the crazy hillbillies VS the sexy city girl a bit silly) and the plot was not that exciting and lacked depth and nuance (the dwarf stalker who leaves Mexico with a waitress ... Really ??)
The ending leaves us a little dissatisfied: how things will go with Adam ?? And Juliette ?? Will Hope continue her work ?? How will be her article about the previous sheriff of Gospel ??
To conclude, not an awesome book but nice enough =)

Cute, but I can't say I really connected to any of the main characters. This felt like a very "early 2000s romance," which it is, and I think I would have enjoyed it more back then.

True Confessions
4 Stars

While the small town of Gospel, Idaho with its eccentric inhabitants is too over the top to be believable, it is, nevertheless, an engaging setting, and the shenanigans of the residents lead to numerous laugh-out-loud moments.

The romance between the distrustful sheriff, Dylan Taber, and the newest member of the Gospel community, Hope Spencer, is very entertaining. The fact that they are both so heartbreakingly lonely makes their finding one another all the sweeter, and their adorable banter and intense chemistry are additional highlights.

That said, the book contains two tropes that usually rub me the wrong way. The first revolves around the secrets that Dylan and Hope keep from each other. Thankfully, these produce relatively little angst, and all is resolved satisfactorily. The second, namely, the fact that Dylan has a son from a previous relationship, is also handled well and the child is a real sweetheart.

All in all, a light and fun read suitable for both fans of and newbies to Gibson's writing.

This was my first Rachel Gibson novel, and I've heard great things about her. So I went into this with somewhat high expectations. But I found that I really enjoyed her way of writing...her internal viewpoints and casual writing style.

Hope Spencer is running from her own life. Her creativity shot and unsure of herself, she travels to Gospel, Idaho for a six-month writing retreat. While there, the town's eligible and handsome sheriff Dylan Taber takes an interest in Hope. Their chemistry is palpable, but Hope is hiding who she really is while Dylan is protecting a secret of his own.

Rachel Gibson has a way of throwing out witticisms and sarcasm when you least expect, which kept me on my toes throughout the book. There were some unexpected twists and turns, and some were predictable. So why did I give it four stars instead of five? I caught several typo errors, misspellings, and even wrong names for characters. I don't imagine this to be the fault of Rachel Gibson; rather, I suspect they slipped through the copyediting process. Still, it was distracting at times.

Good grocery store romance. A nice easy read that makes you fall in love with the small town coyboy hero right from the first page.

My favorite Rachel Gibson funny romance about a California writer from a newspaper about Weekly News of the Universe that travels to Gospel Idaho. She rents a house in town and runs into the local sheriff when there is trouble.

Even thought this isn't listed as part of any of the series, it does take place in the same town and before "The Trouble with Valentines Day" (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/680170.The_Trouble_With_Valentine_s_Day). So read that one first, unlike me.
