4.5 rounded up, heck this ending was more abrupt than I imagined, but maybe that was because I was basically zoning out listening to it…

I think I enjoyed this story for Quinn’s development more than anything, Tarek is a joy and a sweetheart (damn if I guy did a grand gesture to me I would simultaneously die of embarrassment and fondness). I really do like how everything unfolded, and the strong family bonds in the story. It just didn’t tug the heartstrings enough for a 5 star, but it was definitely a good read.

also I promised this book an instant 5 stars because Quinn also hated Canon in D was a wedding song, and girl, same yup. same

possibly the one to find the year on? we’ll see!

It was nice but not anything revolutionary in terms of romcoms. Definitely a cute read but  I felt like the ending was slightly abrupt.

Cute but the main characters shit got old fast. I also couldn’t deal with all the “weddings gone wrong” stuff but that’s more of a personal ick.

Spanish/English Review.

We Can't Keep Meeting Like This no es la excepción.

Quinn y Tarek tienen pasado.

I had the opportunity to read this book as part of the #25ReadsOfDecember event from Riveted by Simon & Schuester.

Another of Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books to the favorite list! Ever since I discovered this author I couldn’t let the opportunity pass to read another of her books. We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This is no exception to my liking.

Quinn and Tarek share a past. A somewhat complicated past where a text wasn’t answered and well, that’s where things were left off and that was it. They run to each other because you know, destiny and their shared time is once again going towards something more (maybe?) but something I really got out of this read was how feelings are handled.

There is a very clear distinction between how Tarek and Quinn feel their feelings, not just between them but in a more general scope. It was refreshing this new perspective.

Spoiler
Despite that in the beginning I felt Quinn somewhere on the pessimist side, as the story progressed, I felt this understanding come to be on her. It’s not that she’s a pessimist, its that she had some things happen in her past that made her step back from a lot of things and experiences. And despite this, and with it, she learned.

Just the same, Tarek’s background was equally amazing. I got to know this character a lot more in some specific conversations and I was truly shocked at how deep he and the rest of the characters are.

Truly I am a fan of Rachel Lynn Solomon ever since I read The Ex Talk in 2021 and here I will stand by her because besides sharing our first name, her stories are amazing! An overall great recommendation to you.

I'm a huge fan of wedding planner romances and this one just checked so many of my boxes! Yes, it's a young adult story, but it was surprisingly mature for the genre. Set in the summer after her senior year of high school, this story highlights Quinn's role in her family's wedding planner business - and her wish to NOT be in that role. There were tons of wedding stories included in the book, which I just ate up. I absolutely loved the mental health representation (OCD and depression) and really appreciated the deep inclusion of the Jewish faith woven in throughout the story. Another reviewer mentioned something that I also noticed, however, and that's the token and stereotypical representation of Tarek's Muslim faith, so please do just keep that in mind. Another aspect of the story that really stood out for me is that Quinn is a harp player and that factored strongly in the story ~ so unique, and I loved getting a glimpse into a new world of music. I highly recommend this story to lovers of YA romance.

Librarian note: While this is a young adult novel, all of the characters have graduated or are already in college and it does include many mentions of sex (and sex on the page) and includes several instances of teens drinking ~ definitely one for high school rather than middle school collections.
