I did not get past the first ten minutes of the audiobook, which opens with a cringey, clumsy scene of homophobic harassment written by someone who is clearly not familiar with what it actually looks like. There’s a difference between the way rich people degrade gay men at work and the way drunk frat boys hurl slurs on the street at night, believe it or not.

I almost DNF'd this multiple times during the first 25% because it was so slow and I was so bored and I just couldn't get in to the dynamic or the tropes at all. But by about 40% and definitely at 50% I was well invested. I don't necessarily think it should have taken that long for me to get invested but I'm really glad that I stuck it out because it got so good. It's exactly the brand of insecurities and angst I like.
The boring first quarter and the fact that Ky forces Noah to consciously acknowledge his trauma and emotional issues for the first time literally ever and then immediately afterwards tells him that hes too broken to be together and he needs to fix himself before Ky can date him or even be friends with him is why its not 5 stars. Thats seriously fucked up. That's not how you handle those issues and Ky being a doctor makes even worse because he should know that that's not how you handle those issues.
The sex scenes were sooo good and the narrator was ACTING not just reading.

Noah has some serious issues after his boyfriend died and they hold him back, but also make him do stupid/dangerous things. The latter combined with Ky's reasons to be closeted takes slow burn to another level. The whole store was filled with slow burn and angst in a way I got bored with the anticipation and just waiting for the next "mistake"...

This is really the best of the bunch. After the 2nd book I decided to quit this series as I really didn't like the character Memphis or realyl Tyler either and it was hard to like anything in the book. This is a turn around as both Noah, who irritates the hell out of everyone but is very entertaining, and Ky, who is in the closet but knows it, are both very likeable and the story is fun. My only problem is that at some point it was going on too long. I think this is my issue not the story as contemporary doesn't hold me very well. I'm sure this will be a 5 star for all my Contemporary romance fans GR friends. Getting to see Dillon and Alec and their future was really nice too.

From the very beginning of the series I was looking forward to Noah's story but I'm sad to say that, in comparison to the other two books, this one was my least favorite. It wasn't a bad story but not as good as the rest of the series. There was some good banter, some sweet and tender moments, and quite a few times I had to chuckle because of Noah's antics but also things that didn't work so well for me.
It took me quite some time to get into it - it was very slow at first and I got distracted during the first 25% of the book to the point of putting it aside and listening to other books. It got better after that and in the end, I was glad I kept listening.
Still, I would have liked more relationship development between Noah and Ky. Their attraction is palpable and their sexual chemistry is off the charts but I couldn't fully buy into them falling in love with each other.
Ky is an awesome guy and I really liked him as a character. His reasons for staying in the closet for so long were believable and made me love and respect him even more.
Noah is, even after so many years of Rick being dead, pretty screwed up. He never really dealt with his grief and his feelings of guilt - at least not in a healthy way. His coping consists of lots of meaningless sex, alcohol, and partying. It takes Ky to make him realize that his way of dealing isn't working and that it's time to face his past. Sadly, I had the feeling that this part was rushed through and because Noah getting better was integral to the guys starting a romantic relationship, I didn't think the guys were as solid by the end of the boos as the author wanted to make it sound. The ending wasn't as satisfying as it could have been and even the epilogue didn't make much of a difference there.
Overall the whole series is enjoyable - the first book was my favorite, followed closely by book two and a slightly disappointing book three.
