I enjoy historical fiction, but this book didn’t particularly stand out to me. It felt average. It had a lot of promise in the beginning, but I feel like the characters kind of fell flat. It was entertaining, but I won’t read it again or find myself thinking about it again.

I could NOT put this book down! Absolutely loved it from page one til the final page. Don’t ruin it for yourself by googling too many things about the Frick history until you’re finished. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves historical fiction.

Fiona Davis is a master of historical fiction.

The Magnolia Palace seamlessly intertwines two stories decades apart taking place at the same locale, the Frick House in New York City. With incredible characters and a wisp of mystery, Davis pulls the reader into the story of the Frick family and several relative strangers who float on the outskirts of their world.

I love that Davis blends history and fiction. She shares information about one of the most extensive art collections on the world while spinning a story that was difficult to put down. I highly recommend for fans of historical fiction, especially if you like the gilded age.

I enjoyed the author’s use of accurate history while subbing some of the characters for the real life people and embellishing on some of the family’s history. Informative and entertaining.

Really interesting historical tidbits, but the characters were so one-dimensional and utterly unlikeable.

I knew of the Fricks just because of where I live, but I didn't know much about them. While I know this is a fictional story, it gave me some insight into their lives (and then I spent time on their Wikipedia pages learning more when I was done reading). The story was intriguing. Lilly's backstory was so interesting and made me think.

Fiona Davis handles the time jump like no other. This book moves so seamlessly as it moves from 1919 to the 1960s. The only downfall was it did feel slow at times, but that didn't take away from how much I enjoyed the story. I did enjoy Veronica's and Joshua's treasure hunt throughout the Frick Collection. It moved so well with the story happening around 1919.

I enjoyed this so much, I mentioned to my sister we'd have to visit the Frick Collection when in NYC. Overall, another winner from Fiona Davis!

This was a bit fluffy even for historical fiction, but I loved learning so much history about The Frick. It’s one of my absolute favorites!

I almost didn't get past the first part of this book as it didn't catch my interest.

It did start to pick up and kept my interest through the last 1/2. However, it wasn’t enough to make up for the slow start for me.
