This story was cute. They met because they live across the hall from each other in handicap accessible rooms and created a friendship. Nothing too dramatic happened and it was a super chill vibe.

I have it marked in my sports album mostly because he’s a hockey player out on injury and for her, but there wasn’t really much “sporting” happening.

*Prefacing my review by saying that I'm a non-disabled person*

(Also trigger warning for a slur directed at disabled people; won't be using it, but there will be mention of it)

I had very high hopes for this book, and some of those hopes were met and others weren't. The story is about two people, Corey and Hartley, who are neighbors in an accessible dorm on their college campus. Corey recently suffered a spinal injury and now uses a wheelchair or crutches to get around, and Hartley has a broken leg causing him to also need crutches to get around. The two bond over a video game, their mutual annoyance of needing aids to walk, and hockey. Sounds great right? Well that part of the story is, but the other part that caused me to give it a lower rating was the way the discussions of disability went. Corey and Hartley both threw around a particular word in reference to themselves that I would deem a slur throughout the book, and anytime it came up, I got very uncomfortable. I understand that Corey was newly injured and had a lot of emotions about not being able to walk like she used to, but the way she demeaned the disabled community by complaining about needing to use a bus to get around campus or adaptive sports made me feel like she was being very snobbish about the idea that she is in fact now disabled and may need to use those things.

Even with that very large issue I had with the book/writing, it was a good book, but VERY similar to Elle Kennedy's "The Deal". So if you don't want to deal with problematic themes about disability, then "The Deal" may be better suited to you (trigger warning for that book: does discuss rape although I don't believe there's any depiction of it)

I loved everything about this!! It’s quickly became one of my favorite books ever.

Part of me wants to give this 3 stars because I liked Corey but this romance was so dry. AND there is cheating but it’s “excusable” because his girlfriend was a snooty rich girl. No thanks.

My second NA but it was good. i LOVE the characters and the devlopement of there relationship. I loved the injury for both characters. it was not super sex heavy but sometimes a tad to much info. I need to read the next book in this series. Strong book. Fast read.

My rating system

5- Gush/Absolutely Loved
4- Low Love/High Like
3- Like
2- Meh
1- Dislike/Hate

If it is a .5 star I round up

4 Stars

I highly liked this one but then again I love a good hockey romance. Highly recommend this one especially if you are on the fence about it. Definitely continuing on with the series.

The only good remark I'm going to have is that I'm happy that a main character I'd featured with a disability in this book. Corey is a paraplegic and it was refreshing to know that there was representation in this romance novel. HOWEVER, it was just... not good. So cringey and not well written and frankly, quite boring. Not to mention that the main character cheats on his girlfriend, and the main female character knows this and goes along with it. Also, toward the end, there is a comment about another hockey team being "sissy men" that was just so uncalled for and unnecessary.

Corey just started college far from home. The home where she had a accident. The accident that left her sitting in a wheelchair and living in a room with a buddy.
Adam lives at the same house of Corey. He injured his leg with hockey and is walking with a cast because of that.

They become friends. The only thing is that Corey feels more for Adam. She falls in love with him, while Adam has no idea. He is happy with his girlfriend, at least that is what he is thinking. But the night Corey and Adam enjoy a bottle of champagne together everything changes.

I enjoyed this story. The story of Corey and Adam was very beautiful written. Corey's past with hockey, her accident, her wheelchair and her strenght is tangible through the pages, just like her love for Adam. Adam's part of the story is like boys act. He don't see Corey for more then a friend, at least that is what he keeps telling himself and for me, he just acts like most of the boys do. They doesn't see what is in front of them.

For us girls (;p) it is obvious that he loves Corey. The way he treat her, the way he care for her, the way he challenge her, it all shows love. O boy, sometimes I wanted to scream at him, to just open his eyes. But I think, he couldn't hear me ;)

SpoilerSo when he finally sees what is just for his nose, all I could do was let out a sigh of happiness.

“I want everything. I want you to be the same with me that you were with other girls.” His gaze had the intensity of a laser. “But it's not the same with you.” My heart faltered. “Why?” “Because, Callahan.” The brown eyes came closer. “I never loved anyone the way I love you.”

This was a cute book. Their "weirdest night ever" was questionable. Also Stacia could have disappeared earlier in the story lol.
