Once Cary found his groove in writing this book I didn't want to put it down!

The Princess Bride meant a LOT to me growing up and was one of my comfort movies. This book is such a great background look at the movie and what transpired behind the scenes (and in some outtakes that sound hilarious, written in a way it feels like the reader is there sharing the joke as well!)

I met Cary Elwes a few years ago at a Comic-Con and was so excited to shake THE Westley's hand! I felt so embarrassed for a long while when he told me to have a great day at the con, and what did I do? I hit him with an "As you wish" (he smiled and i almost tripped because how else do you walk away from a guy that was a huge part of your childhood? Walk away casually without tripping?! Have you met me? 😅) After reading this book I'm actually really glad that I said that even though he no doubt forgot about me the instant I walked away from his booth.

I also learned so much about the other people both working on the movie and actors for it - and now I want to know more about them as well as Cary wrote them in such a great light!

If you are contemplating reading this book - this is your sign to have fun storming the castle! (Or in simpler terms, do it!!)

I really enjoyed this book! Reading the behind the scenes stories was so much fun. I have been a fan of this movie since in came out and remember reading the book in the 7th grade. It was well written with a conversational style and I found myself laughing a lot. The only thing I didn't care for were the little side boxes with comments from the actors. I liked the comments, but I found them distracting. Just a pet peeve of mine, I guess. I made it almost to the end without watching the movie. When he talks about him breaking his toe, I had to watch the hill scene. Very good book for any fan of The Princess Bride!!

I love this movie. So this book is a lot of fun to read. I can only give it four stars, however, because I don't think the book is quite long enough - it has a more-ishness about it, meaning I'd love to read more ;)

Really fun, if a little ham fisted, recounting of the making of The Princess Bride.

As a window into a great creative experience... this book is fantastic.  A lot of the "story" has now been disseminated into popular culture, so there weren't many surprises for me. What I did find compelling was the authors feelings about those events.  I found myself insanely jealous of the community he described.

Could the writing have been a little smoother?  Sure. Does it need to be?  No.

If you're a fan of the movie (and who isn't?!?) this is a fantastic, fun, breezy little read.

Loved this behind the scenes look at one of my most favorite movies!

A must read for anyone who loves The Princess Bride!
