Jen's done it again! Her books never DISAPPOINT and this one is spectacular. Between the characters Jen creates, the mystery angle in each story and the superb humor contained in every book, her books are always at the top of my reads list. Eunice and Arthur are fun characters and extremely likeable and along with the cast of secondary characters make for quite a fun story. I also really enjoyed the secondary mystery and the elements that brings to the story. The way the puzzle pieces of the mystery come together is fantastic and the ending is lovely. If you like historical fiction, fantastic humor, and a fun mystery, don't miss a Jen Turano novel!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and purchased an Audible copy for my listening pleasure. I was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Ever since the first book I have been wanting to know more about Eunice and I finally got to read all about her and it was so much fun! If you have read the series so far you will know that the character of Eunice was unique and a bit mysterious. I mean the gal wore all black and a gigantic veil to cover herself. She was constantly in mourning clothes but at the same time she started the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency to help others. So she has an adventurous streak to her and boy do we see everything revealed about her when Arthur Livingston shows up!

Goodness I loved their banter and tension they had. It made this story so entertaining and just kept you reading to see what was going to happen. But it's not all comedy, there is also a mystery surrounding this story and some twists I did not expect. I'm not going to reveal much of the story because it was so good and you should really read it for yourself. I will say that Jen really did a fantastic job with the characters. They were engaging and relatable. Although at first I did not know what to think of Arthur I absolutely loved him. He was the perfect leading gentleman.

I will say that the ending felt a bit rushed but I think its just me and my greedy reading self. I wanted to know more about the other characters and feel like some could have their own stories. Despite my greediness the ending was good and it closed up the series well. I can't wait to see what her next book will be all about. I highly recommend you grab this one and although technically you could read this as a stand alone but I recommend you grab the first book so you get to know these characters better and get well acquainted with them.

I received this book from the publisher Bethany House. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed the other books in this series, but I DNF this one. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it, but I was almost 100 pages in and bored to death.

There was so much telling vs showing. The characters talked so, so much. At one point, Eunice (the MC), tells her friend "I'll give you the condensed version" and talks for like three pages. If that's the condensed version, I would hate to see the full.

Again, maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this particular book at the time, but I couldn't make myself push through.

Eunice Holbrooke has been running from her past for years and she would have kept running…if her past hadn’t just walked into her office. Will she confront her past and finally solve the mystery that has plagued her for years?

I’m a long time fan of Jen Turano’s books. She always brings level of action and humor that is not common in christian romance books. The comedic antics of her characters and the ability of the book to not take itself too seriously is what I’ve always enjoyed about her works.

That being said, this book was a miss for me. It felt a bit slower than her other books and had less tension and action. Even though I didn’t love this book, I will definitely continue reading her books.

Pros:
-I didn’t guess the murder mystery until right before it was revealed.
-There were a couple side plots that caught my attention and I would fly through that part of the story.

Cons:
-The dialogue felt a little stilted and I felt like there were multiple unnecessary conversations that slowed down the pace of the book.
-I wish there was more action or a quicker pace.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bethany House for the free ebook in return for my honest review. As always, my reviews are 100% my own opinion.

Oh man, I was very intrigued to get Eunice's story after she was such a mysterious and intimidating character in the other two books in the Bleeker Street Inquiry series. She clearly had something she was hiding and you certainly find out what that was in this book. While you could technically read this as a standalone, I would highly encourage starting from book 1 of the series (To Steal a Heart) and then move onto To Write a Wrong to get the fullest picture of Eunice and her unique story. In true Jen Turano fashion, you get intrigue, hilarity, and romance all wrapped up in a great story. Also, this has to be one of my favorite covers of hers across all the series I've read. I think it's absolutely beautiful.

What a super fun and engaging read! Jen Turano knocked this story out of the park. I have been eagerly awaiting Eunice’s story since book 1, and I can say To Disguise the Truth was well worth the wait. I loved everything about this book: the plot is highly engaging and fast-paced, the characters are FANTASTIC, and the themes are quite timely and relatable. I like that my emotions went all over the place with this book. When Eunice is undercover in the asylum, I was terrified. When she takes an entire group of abusive nurses on, I was cheering out loud! The romance that blossoms between Arthur and Eunice is slow-going, but so satisfying and made my heart SO super happy. And there are tons and tons of moments where I laughed out loud. Truly, this book had me feeling all the feels.

Eunice is one of the coolest heroines I’ve ever read. She is SO capable. Yes, she is impressively beautiful and intelligent, but her most impressive quality is her James Bond-like ability to take care of herself. And Arthur is a great hero. I love how clueless he is about his feelings until they wallop him in the face. I love how big and strong he is, and how this gives Eunice a sense of safety that she really hasn’t ever felt before. It makes me weak in the knees when a hero is a protector! Lastly, I love the many excellent themes weaved throughout the storyline. My favorite is the discussion in regard to disguising ourselves in order to feel a sense of control. We all wear different masks throughout our lives for many unique reasons. Some of us, however, wear masks when we really shouldn’t. When we get too comfortable in our masks all we’re really doing is isolating ourselves from real love, friendship, intimacy, and/or help. It is pretty important for our mental and emotional well-being to learn when to mask and when to trust those around us. What a really timely reminder for us all!

To Disguise the Truth by Jen Turano is an excellent read. I loved every minute of this storyline and will miss spending time with these characters. What a great end to a truly delightful series! I highly, highly recommend this fantastic story, and cannot wait to see what Turano has in store for us readers.

I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from the publisher, Bethany House Publishers, via NetGalley. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

From the moment that I first met her – in To Steal a Heart – Eunice Holbrooke had me hooked. Her widows’ veils and the mysterious aura that surrounded her, was incredibly intriguing. Needless to say, this book was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. And pleasantly enough, it did not disappoint!

Getting to know Eunice was an absolute joy. She is funny and incredibly determined (she also has a healthy love of trousers and pistols :)). Arthur is initially far less enjoyable of a character, but even though he seems on the surface to be a bit of a sexist jerk, Turano was never convincing in that portrayal. Eventually Arthur’s true character is revealed to the reader, and he truly is Eunice’s perfect match.

All of the side-characters are wonderful!! I loved all of them – especially Georgette, though – and I hope that in the future Turano will share more of their stories with us.

The insane asylum focus was well-written. I appreciated Turano’s decision to highlight a historical issue that is often forgotten.

All in all, this was a lovely and fun read and a new Turano favorite for me.
