I think I preferred the other two books in the trilogy. Literally the last twenty pages are the climax. That's cutting it fine imo. Still fun and had the best character relationship to date in the series.

Despite the fact that I only started this series in December (2019), it feels really nostalgic, reminding me of the books that I really enjoyed when I was younger.

The pacing of these books has always felt a little slow but the plot as a whole was sound, building up to the ending, which was slightly anti-climactic. This was because two different issues had to wrapped up so the drama was spread between the two, resulting in neither being done justice.

I really feel remarkably neutral about the characters and would really appreciate more female characters who don't end up as love interests.

The concept and world-building that supports this series is simply wonderful, which is what contributes to the nostalgia. This is genuinely some of the most unique world-building that I've ever read, making the entire series feel fresh.

Overall, a good read, just needed more female characters and some tweaks to the plot.

My least favorite of the series (Haven't read the newest trilogy as of yet). Still manages some great character drama, interactions, and engaging plotting - but feels unecessary in the grand scheme of Quint's story as well as contradictory with pieces and details of the story we've learned before the release of this book. Part fo the danger of doing
prequels I guess.

I don't know what's going on with this book, it's the third book in the trilogy and suddenly they are killing off main characters left and right. The deaths were flat and weren't really given any time or compassion by the narrative. In particular Wind Jackal's death was rushed past and never really addressed futher.
Thaw Daggerslash was ridiculously evil to the point that it made no sense that no one suspected him properly all the way through, it makes no sense that Spillins didn't say anything to anyone about his concerns about hiis aura.
So much off the book was building up this big sky ship that ended up being barely relevant to the plot and didn't do one iota of damage.
Overall this book really just did not hit, nothing really in it was compelling and it was a flat end to a below average series. I will still read the Twig trilogy as I have already bought it and I have fonder memories of those books but I am not filled with optimism for them.

Loved going back to one of my favourite book series as a kid/teenager. Brought back so many memories. Now really wanting to get and read the rest again and then read the newer books.
