Eh honestly not a bad continuation of the story. On my third try to finish this series, let's see how the next goes.
King has done an excellent job progressing the characters in this series so far. The story has made huge strides towards being much more cohesive. And best of all, this isn't one long flashback. The ending of this entry has reinvigorated my desire to finish this series after the lackluster previous entry to the series... there are Harry Potter references, so that's a huge plus for me.
BTW George Guidall does a decent job in the audiobook, his voices are just a bit boring after hearing Frank Muller's for 3 books.

I really admire Stephen King's ability to tell a story. He certainly has a knack for writing interesting characters and storylines that hook you in and keep you wanting to know what's going to happen next. And ugh, the damn cliffhanger endings! I will certainly be picking up the last two books of this series, because I need to know!

I was unsure if I'd continue this series after book 4 (Roland's backstory was so not interesting to me) but I found this one more enjoyable! That being said, listening to the audiobook alongside reading the book (I would switch back and forth between formats) really saved it because SO MUCH is dialogue!! Endless dialogue about what they plan to do, what the townspeople think, convincing the townspeople, the same conversations over and over. The audiobook made it enjoyable, and I'd switch back to the book for the more action-packed scenes.
Probably the fastest book I've read in this series. Really interesting side quest that sheds light on the greater quest at hand. Character development was strong and the story was interesting. King brings in some very clear references to another work of his that I’ve also read which was an interesting twist. Overall, parts of the book could have been condensed, and the ending could have been more drawn out with drama. But out of the first five in the series, this is my second favorite behind Book #2.
In the fifth installment of The Dark Tower series, the reader finds Roland and his Ka-tet being summoned to a town called Calla Bryn Sturgis, where the town is preparing for a terrifying cyclic event where wolves, or things disguised as wolves, come to the town and kidnap every child who is a twin and robs them of their vitality. The elders of the town ask Roland and his group for protection. Susannah, is among this group, but she discovers that she engaged in a personal fight over her body, which is seg way to the sixth installment of the series. This was a bulky novel, and it could have been cut down, but the epic is still intriguing enough to continue.
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the other DT books- maybe because I haven’t been a part of the series in the past year or so. Eddie Dean, Roland, Jake, Susannah and now Oy are still as vibrant as they were when first introduced. The password is 1999, and ka is still king. I am excited to see what the Song of Susannah has in store.
