Not so much scary and not at all what I thought it would be about.
Tough tale of addiction mixed with the supernatural.
Overall steady pace of kinda depressing chain of events.
But I thought it was a good story and I liked the ending.

A brilliant literary haunted paranormal ghost story.
A story of grief, love, regret and ghosts.
The reviews put me off and I am so glad I ignored them. I think people are going into it expecting jump scares but this is a horror story rooted in grief and ghosts. It’s literary horror and is a masterpiece !!!

The prose is very engaging even while the characters are unlikeable and a lot of their motions are told rather than felt. I wish I hadn't read the epilogue as it tried to tie it all together too neatly. I felt like a stronger ending would have been one without the epilogue.

A heartbreaking take on the ghosts of addiction, loneliness, and…well, actual ghosts. The ending was amazing and reminds us that the journey never ends.
Graphic: Body horror, Death, Drug abuse, Drug use, Emotional abuse, Self harm, Toxic relationship, Vomit, Gaslighting, Toxic friendship, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Genocide, Hate crime, Slavery, Forced institutionalization, Abortion
Too long, but an interesting concept. Creepy and gross. Would’ve been better if it were 50 or so pages shorter. Got a little lost in the weeds - some sixth sense stuff that never went anywhere, flashbacks OR WERE THEY, addiction but WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE, and felt like the author was enjoying his own voice too much. 2 1/2 stars
I really liked the tone the book started out with and overall like the author's writing style.
For being a "horror" book I never really found the book scary at all. There are some grotesque imagery but the way it is presented almost makes you laugh as much as revolt.
I truly understand the pull a toxic relationship can have but for how deep Erin was in it I don't feel we got enough backstory to really explain *why*.
Was especially not in love with the ending. How do you
for 1.5 months and killing 30? ...wild

lie to the police, kill 30 people, and destroy millions in property and write not getting prison time off as "white privilege"? I think even white privilege has it's breaking points. It felt like a too clean way to summarize the book. She gets a happy ending counseling other people who have drug issues after having been addicted to a drugfor 1.5 months and killing 30? ...wild
Erin is a former addict and her path to relapse is paved by two of her close friends, Tobias and Silas.
I liked this novel more than I thought I would. The drug aspect of Ghost and addiction of being Haunted was a definite unique basis. One that I really couldn’t relate to, as I have minimal experience with drugs. I guess in a way I can kind of relate to the draw of a relationship and how intoxicating that can be in itself. How sometimes it’s hard to separate yourself and your identity from a partner.
Some parts were very obscure and hard to understand, but the story overall had a nice flow. The characters weren’t the best, most of them seem to just drift into their circumstances without taking a stand. Erin makes her friend’s death all about her. Most of them do glorify acid in my opinion which was kinda off putting.
Another confusing part was when we are getting an explanation of Ghost and are told that people, not houses, are haunted. Then they immediately discuss how they need a “fresh” house that isn’t already haunted?!?
Definitely a decent book, but doesn’t live up to all the hype I’ve heard.

I liked this book until about 3/4 of the way through and then things took a turn for the grotesque. I wish the ending was different. It was not satisfying.
