Erin is a girl, who is in love with Silas and her friends Toby and Amara. Silas is pretty rough around the edges. Silas ends up passing away from an overdose. Erin, Toby, and Amara are pretty broken up about this tragic event. Toby goes on to share this new drug called, "Ghost." Toby and Silas have been working on this drug and getting haunted. Getting haunted after taking "Ghost," means seeing the dead. This book was hard to get into, but felt I needed to finish it since I was halfway done. I probably wouldn't recommend this book. The story line was weird, as well as the concept of the book. It was pretty boring and didn't keep my attention. It took me longer to read than any other book I've read.

Excellent audiobook reading, it's nice to see more flexibility and range in audiobooks than just 'sit and read dialog' kind of way. That being said, wow this book was a mixed bag. Excellent concept, interesting execution, okay ending where the cyclical nature of abuse and addiction is touched upon. The only way out is to cut it out at the source and never look back.

It was fine. I think it’s an interesting discussion about addiction and grief but also pretty basic. The characters weren’t very likable so I found it hard to care about what happens to them. It takes on a few too many extra themes and, therefore, ends up being a little disjointed.

This book is definitely going to be one that stays with me. It reminds me of the film ‘Talk to Me’ in terms of both storyline and tone, and I imagine they’d appeal to a similar audience.

Chapman delivers a well-developed plot that gives you pretty much all of the answers and closure you could want. The writing is absolutely magnetic, cutting straight to the chase with no filler; I never felt a moment of boredom while reading. CMC does a great job portraying the desperation and loneliness that go along with addiction, never shying away from all of its ugly sides. The story is compelling with characters that are both piteous and infuriating, and the setting is vivid, gritty and gothic.

Wow! What a great premise. A gripping horror novel about grief, addiction, and the allure of the paranormal. Exceptional storytelling.
