I’m entirely the wrong audience for this book—all the dragons in the world can’t make up for the characterization, plot and setting in the bowels of the violent underworld of the Louisiana bayou. My reading experience was really one star, but I have a soft spot for the Artemis Fowl books, so I am trying to not mess with the ratings.

Different than what I was expecting given previous books, but as always Colfer’s wit had me laughing. The violence or language may not be everyone’s cup of tea, however, it was spot on for the story.

A book that manages to be both endearing, tragic, and darkly comedic at the same time with sympathetic and charming characters and the possibility of being the start of a series although the novel is entirely self-contained.

If you like weird - this might be a book for you.

But it's also chaotic, violent, use swearing and sexual expressions.

I'm more into Pratchett humor, so I didn't find this book particularly funny.

Characters were super annoying and I really didn’t like any of them (maybe the dragon, a little, but not enough to keep reading). Also, the humour is…not very funny. Not at all like the Artemis Fowl books.

Love, love, love! Not for middle-schoolers, (lots of profanity and detailed violence. I only caution because of how many books Colfer has written for that population. This probably shouldn't be considered one of them) but high-schoolers and adults will enjoy the quickly moving, action-packed, hilarity of the story. Or at least I sure did!

Vern, the last living dragon, resides in Louisiana. Circumstances force him into close contact with Everett "Squib" Mureau, and he hates humans. Pair that with a sociopathic, ex-military, crooked cop, and it's a quick ride to the end of the book.

this was such a good story and funny. probably would be my fav book after severance in 2020 so far.
