The dialogue was so repetitive I couldn’t stand it.
I couldn’t take how the characters said basically the same thing over and over.
Repeating themselves with little difference was tedious.
Yup. Just because you rephrase it doesn’t make it any more interesting or helpful to the plot. Especially after the 40th time.
DNF
8/3/18 ETA: I was going through the series again via audiobook and thought I’d give this a try again. I made it a little further ~ but only because I sort of zoned out during the repetitive scenes while I was doing housework. Managed to make it about 50%, but *STILL* couldn’t finish this. WTF?!? There’s absolutely NO ACTION in what is supposed to be a Romantic Suspense via Military/SpecOps group. Basically this organization thinks it’s totally reasonable to have one person (male) guarding the female client and everyone stands around winking and grinning because they all know H & h are having sex. Yup, very professional and believable.

fast-paced
I had taken a break from this series for a while. So long in fact that I had forgotten why. Now I remember. It's fine, it's an easy quick read but the down side to that is anyone who has read this adventure/romance genre will see everything coming a mile away. The whole book was predictable and I just couldn't get invested in these characters.
not the best in the series. a little redundant especially with the previous one. i'm waiting for Rusty and Sean's story, so i'll keep reading!
20 chapters of 38 in and I had to stop trying. This was a “do not finish” for me. There’s no real plot, insta lust is one thing but asking if this is love after one day and no real conversation is insane. There’s no real chemistry nor connection between these characters. And a 23/24 year old virgin who is some sort of super model, give me a break. The lack of realism made it hard to connect to the story. The hero’s insecurities made him unlikeable to me. One scar doesn’t make a war hero doubt his ability to be appealing to the opposite sex. Referring to yourself as a beast to her beauty is contrived and ridiculous. I’m assuming theirs a HEA but I couldn’t wait around for a plot, good dialogue or steamy scenes to find out.
3.5 stars... not as well written as others but a pretty good story in all.
When Day Breaks by Maya Banks
Eden a model that has body guards due to her military father, knows when something is wrong.
A shooter tried to take her out. Her dad had summoned the brothers for a meeting and he tells them all he knows-starts with his wife who had been targeted and killed.
He fears they are after the daughter now...and Reed says he can get the KGI group to help take the murderers son out, once and for all. Swanny and others are on board and want to help.
She selects Swanny to personally guard her and all the others in the background. They are sexually chemically attracted to one another and slowly go to that goal.
Hot steamy sex scenes and I love the travel overseas. He doesn't want to show her the physiologic and physical scars he's acquired fighting in the war...he sees himself as a beast and her a beauty.
The criminal has been abducted but then why was she being kidnapped?
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Continuing the KGI series, this is a good story; better than the last. I enjoyed the main characters and the story.
Another great read from Maya Banks in the KGI series. There’s not a lot of good romantic suspense available right now so I’m very excited to find a series that can keep me hooked. Eden is a world famous fashion model who even though she’s lead a semi-sheltered life, when danger stalks her family she understands how to take care of herself. But her father would feel so much better if the men of KGI served as bodyguards. With the team along on her latest shoot, Eden complies with their requirements to ensure her safety but she has one of her own. She wants more time with Swanny. Swanny has always found Eden to be beautiful but after his injuries he doesn’t believe she would every look at him and can’t believe she’s interested in him. As they battle the evil chasing Eden and open up to each other, they find the bigger battle is trying to find their forever. Fun, exciting read, really enjoyed how they opened up and discovered their relationship. Can't wait for the next one!
Started off interesting...got boring. I could skip ages and not really miss a whole lot. But I'm so happy for Swanny! And now I'm excited to learn more about Hancock. It was nice to see him acting like a person towards someone instead of a machine.
