I loved this book!! I saw a lot of myself in Tally and found her to be very relatable. I found myself getting frustrated at her family and friends whilst also understanding why they react the way they do. Tally and Rupert’s friendship was so adorable and melted my heart. I felt the bullying wasn’t really properly addressed and it frustrated me that Luke said if he knew she was autistic he wouldn’t have bullied her instead of realising you shouldn’t bully anyone. But overall I really liked the book!!

I don't know what I expected going into this book - but having now finished it, I am totally blown away! The stand out feature of this story is that it is actually based on true events by a real life Tally - and this just opened my eyes to so much about autism that I had no clue about. A must read!!

Co-Written by a pre-teen girl with autism and a writer who is also a special education coordinator. I gained such a better understanding and empathy around autism in reading this story. I loved the diary entries at the end of the chapter where Tally expresses how she feels, her stress levels, and then shares a new facet of autism and the pros and cons of it.
As a middle school teacher, I got worked up reading some of the terrible things that were allowed to happen to Tally—treatment by students And teachers.
Her mother in the story was an incredible advocate. I like how Tally would share that she knew the strategies her mom was using on her but was willing to work with them. Or the way she expressed feeling something so strongly but not being able to show it in the way people typically express it.
A Must Read for educators. I highly recommend for anyone though.
