This one is a weird litrpg book. There's quite a few good to great aspects of the writing. The author is talented!

I can't quite explain why I disliked this book despite the good writing aspects. It feels like maybe the author isn't familiar with rpg games. Or perhaps the publisher rushed the author on this book before it got fully finished. I mean the MC gained spells and talents that are never even used in the book. There was also never any point where the MC was in danger. So I really feel like there is merit to my "unfinished book" theory.

I think people will enjoy this if they want a short YA fantasy, magic read.

This was fine tbh. Not amazing but I didn't absolutely hate it. I honestly feel like the weakest part of this book was the MC. He was OK but I just couldn't bring myself to care about him. Also I felt like the stat dumps weren't too well integrated and it just took me out of the book at times.

Comedic

I honestly didn't expect to like this book much. The book has an abrupt beginning, and the main character seems to put a wrench in everything. It's funny though. Montana is likeable, and he seems to be deliberately choosing to be "better" than the life he escaped. I do wonder about the woman in his past though. An enjoyable book, and a series I plan to continue.

This motherfucker better put some of those dangling attribute points in wisdom and intelligence in the next book. Loved the main character and his no-fucks-to-give carpe diem attitude, but I don't think my heart can bear the strain of another book without a bit of a common sense upgrade for Montana.

Still really enjoyed this book though; narrator was perfect for the character.
