Storyline: 5/5; This time the story was not due to the female lead doing something dangerous. It was because people were seeking revenge against the Rock Chicks and Hot Guy Bunch as a whole and decided that Stella was a part of them. Which of course made Mace go into protective mode. There were issues with his father and with some idiot who thought he could take on the Hot Guy Bunch. There weren’t as many issues between the two main characters which was nice. still just as funny as the other books of KA’s.

Female Lead: 5/5; Stella was the main singer/guitarist of a big local Denver band. She had gone out with Mace before all of this took place but he had broken up with her. She was still hung up on him and eventually they sorted out their issues. It happened about halfway through the book (kind of like Luke and Ava) so we got to see them actually be together instead of figuring out shit until the very end. I really respected her because she found out about Mace’s issues pretty fast and decided that she was going to do whatever she could in order to help him get through things. She was loyal and determined and patient with him when he needed time. Plus she was like the ultimate Rock Chick because she was actually in a band and was starting to go big. It was really funny when she would watch the Rock Chicks and just be like all of these people are crazy.

Male Lead: 5/5; As much as I loved him, Mace was sadly not my favorite male lead. He was really good but there wasn’t something about him that I absolutely fell in love with. I think I might have expected too much from him. Although, considering all the shit that he had been through in his life he did a damn good job of healing with Stella’s help. I think that he just was so quiet about everything and expressed himself with looks and actions that it made it difficult to actually connect with through a book. Listening to his mother talk about him before the incident with his sister absolutely broke my heart. And when she was talking to Stella and learned that people called him Mace and she was like the son that I knew wasn’t a Mace, he was a Kai. The person who took over my son after Caitlyn is Mace. SOOO sad.

Relationship: 6/5; Stella and Mace were very good together. She made him smile which was super rare and she made him let his guard down which was also really really unheard of. He gave her the first good thing she had since music and she helped him let go of his demons. She was also one of the only Rock Chicks who just went along with the whole Mace taking things into his own hands thing. She didn’t fight it very hard at all. Like when he was like we’ll buy a new house for us she was just like (smiles) 'really?’ It was good and really what Mace needed. I loved that about them. They just went with the flow of everything.

Supporting Characters: 6/5; OMG. So last time I complained that I hadn’t really felt like the Rock Chicks were present in the story. Well, KA heard me and decided to add not only some of the Rock Chick’s POVs but also some of the Hot Bunch’s POVs. OMG. I didn’t know that KA would ever do things from the guy’s POV. I must have squeed every time there was a different POV other than Stella. Even if it was short it was still awesome. Anyways lots of things happen for their group in this book because it’s kind of about all of them. Lee and Indy have their wedding. Hank and Roxie get engaged. Jules is preggers.

Ending: 7/5; So the actual ending of this was a little weird. It ends with Jane’s POV where she sees all the whole group in the book store and it is revealed that she was the one who sold their stories to the press. Then she follows Hector to see who the next Rock Chick is going to be. But the kicker is the epilogue, which was also unheard of in KA books before this. We learn that Mace leaves Nightingale Investigations to follow Stella and be her security and starts his own band of Bad Asses. Stella is also on tour with her band and they made it big. But when she goes back to Denver all of the group goes to her concert and we also find that Ally gets with Ren and Hector gets with some girl who is part of the next book. And pretty much everyone has babies. YAY for until ate happy endings. But the best part is when Stella is on stage and dedicates a song for Mace and he goes on stage and they have a moment where they kiss and they are just happy together. It was by far the best ending of the Rock Chick series’.

I was wondering if one of these was ever going to be about an ex, and I see it has finally come to pass! Now these are not normally my favourite love stories, but it worked out beautifully in this one. Maybe that's naive of me (okay, it's definitely naive of me), but I like the love stories where it's all fresh and new and it doesn't begin with intense emotional pain. But .... this was still beautiful.

I should have expected what happened in this book to happen eventually, but it definitely surprised me. All of the Rock Chicks were attacked. WHAT?! Not just one of them, this was major drama. I don't know how Kristen Ashley manages to keep this up, while maintaining how fresh it is. It's impressive really. Seems like when you read each synopsis that it would start getting stale - but it just doesn't. So obviously, this plot was rockin' from beginning to end.

Stella and Mace were extremely sweet together. Neither wanting to admit what they really wanted. Cute. And they had a happy ending. Lovely. In fact, I'd maybe say that they had the happiest ending yet.

I'm such a sucker for a book when I can listen to music along with the story. There were some major LOL moments in this book, and definitely tears, not major ugly crying but happy and sad tears. Bring on books 7 and 8!!

This is my fave so far. Devoured it in one day. I've been interested in Mace's story since he was first introduced. And I adored Stella. I usually don't like rock star plot lines. They always come across cheesy and dated to me but this one really worked and felt authentic.

The biggest reason this is my favorite though is the music. I highly recommend you take Ashley's advice and listen to the songs referenced in the book. Even though I already knew the songs listening to them still added a level of depth to the reading experience. I could also see Stella singing some Mazzy Star when in a black mood.

Also, after listening to the Unplugged version of Black by Pearl Jam I went down a 90's grunge rabbit hole and experienced some serious nostalgia. Layne Staley breaks my heart.

This is my least favorite of the Rock Chick series. I powered through, because Kristen Ashley books are like pizza, even when they're bad, they're still pretty good.

Ashley's strength is her ability to develop characters. They speak to directly to my soul. Sadly, I didn't connect to Stella and Mace on that level. They left me hanging, and yearning for more. Why did Mace feel the need to 'test' Stella? Why didn't Stella ever fight for him when she so clearly loved him? Moreover, Stella's story fell completely flat for me. For someone so haunted, she seemed to be able to let her demons go without explanation, and without any difficulty. She also didn't seem to connect with any of the other members of the 'hot bunch'. Though there was an attempt, I didn't feel the connection like I did with Jules and Luke, Vance and Roxie, and Ava and Lee. Not to mention, the whole Eric thing was just weird and either should have been developed more or completely omitted from the book.

On top of all of this, I didn't quite get the bad guy/security trouble of this story. Why did Sid seem target Stella and Mace? If he truly wanted revenge and to take down the Nightingale group, why not go after Lee, the leader? Stella wasn't really a Rock Chick at the time the stuff began.

The book had redeeming qualities though. Stella's connection to the music was so real and so beautiful. Mace's story broke my heart. And I enjoyed the stories from some of my favorite Rock Chicks of books past. It was awesome to reconnect with Indy, Jet, Roxie, Jules and Ava.

Every time I pick up a Kristen Ashley book, I tell myself that I can't love it any more than the last one, that no KA man can be better than *insert last KA man here*

And every time, I am wrong. I loved Reckoning as much as every other, and I think Mace might be giving Whiskey a run for his money as my favourite Hot Bunch man.

Why did i leave it so long since reading the last RC book?

When Stella met Mace she fell hard, when Mace walked out of her life six months later, she fell harder. A year later the Rock Star has found her footing and although it is still raw, has moved on from her time with Mace. The last thing she needs in her life now is Mace, but he is back now that she and the other Rock Chicks are being targeted and Mace has no plans to walk away this time.

Mace has enough of his own baggage to know the biggest mistake he made was walking away from Stella, he plans to get her back. Although Stella still wants him, she doesn't plan to go easily as Mace plans not only to protect her but claim her as his and never let her go.

I liked this one, not my favorite out of the series but had plenty of Rock Chick moments. I was hooked from the beginning but this had other viewpoints in the story which drifted from how the previous books have been and I felt it kept me off guard, I just wanted more Stella and Mace.
