Band 2 aus der Wake/Dreamcatcher Trilogie hat mich komplett verzaubert. [b:Wake|1661957|Wake (Dream Catcher, #1)|Lisa McMann|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41-cqnKEXgL._SL75_.jpg|1656772] hatte mir gut gefallen und dazu geführt, dass ich Fade bereits einen Monat später zur Hand genommen habe, aber ich habe nicht erwartet, dass ich das Buch in einem traumähnlichen Zustand an nur einem Tag lesen würde.
Spoiler für Wake ziehen sich leider durch die ganze Rezension
Fade geht da weiter, wo Wake aufhört. Cabel und Janie gehen ihren Schulpflichten nach und führen nachmittags eine eher geheime Beziehung. Beide arbeiten nun undercover für die Polizei und diesmal sollen sie einen Lehrer ausfindig machen, der sich angeblich an Schülern vergreift. Cabel gefällt das gar nicht, da Janie sich bei diesen Aktionen leicht in Gefahr begeben kann, aber er muss lernen damit umzugehen, dass er sie nicht kontrollieren kann. Janie hingegen lernt auf unerwartetem Weg mehr über ihre Traumfänger-Fähigkeiten und muss knallharte Wahrheiten über ihre Zukunft ins Gesicht blicken.
Im Vordergrund steht für mich in diesem Buch ganz klar die Beziehung zwischen Cabel und Janie. Die beiden sind ab nun offiziell eins meiner liebsten Pärchen. Lisa McMann hat es geschafft die Gefühle zwischen den beiden so real, emotional und zuckersüß darzustellen, dass mir beim Lesen regelrecht das Herz gebrannt hat (klingt das jetzt arg kitschig?). Es ist alles so aufregend und toll und doch umhüllt von so viel Schneefall-bei-Dämmerung-Melancholie (das klingt jetzt komisch, aber das ist genau das Bild und Gefühl, das mir das Buch und die heimlichen Liebestreffen gegeben haben). Und dann dieses dramatische Ende, was mir selbst Angst vor Janies und Cabels Zukunft macht.
Natürlich ist noch mehr passiert als nur dieses Liebesabenteuer. Janies Karriere bei der Polizei ist etwas, das ich nicht erwartet habe. Schon im ersten Teil kam mir die Sache, dass Cabel undercover arbeitet ein wenig realitätsfern vor, aber in Fade hat es gepasst und den Lehrer-Verführer-Erzählstrang, den es mit sich gebracht hat, fand ich grandios. Hier hat Lisa McMann es geschafft ein Geflecht aus verbotenem Interesse, Gefahr und Ekel zu spinnen, das in einem gruseligen Finale gipfelt.
Janies Traumfängerfähigkeiten stehen zwar theoretisch im Vordergrund der Trilogie, aber in diesem Roman sind sie das letzte, an das ich mich erinnere. Dabei erhält Janie endlich ein paar Antworten, lernt neue Tricks und muss ein paar furchtbare Dinge erkennen. Überhaupt ist mir Janie in diesem Band viel mehr ans Herz gewachsen und ich bange mit Cabel um ihre Zukunft.
Zum Schreibstil kann ich nur sagen, was wohl eh schon alle wissen. Kurze, prägnante Sätze, die sich meiner Meinung nach gut und schnell lesen, die Überflüssiges einfach weglassen und trotzdem alles rüberbringen, was ein gefühlvolles, spannendes Buch braucht.
Für Fade vergebe ich also volle Punktzahl und ich habe große Erwartungen an [b:Gone|6759394|Gone (Dream Catcher, #3)|Lisa McMann|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41hO2Q2RFLL._SL75_.jpg|6474015], den letzten Teil der Trilogie, und aufgrund einiger durchschnittlicher Reviews, auch etwas Angst enttäuscht zu werden.

Gripping book about a girl who is pulled into the dream of anyone who is sleeping near her. This phenomenon sounds fascinating at first, but when you stop and realize all the ramifications, it is downright daunting. How would you handle sleep overs? Siblings? Parents? Sitting in a classroom with a sleepy classmate? A future husband?
Great read. I had not been able to sit down with a book in the last year since my dad died. I brought this series home and read all 3 books in one weekend. It was a great way to get me back in the swing of things.

Wow...what a spectacular sequel to "Wake." You can never tell with "bridge" novels; sometimes they revolve too much around set-up for a finale. But this book was a chilling, gripping story in its own right, and I read it almost straight through because I just couldn't stop. The short, clipped prose helps, but it astounds me how McMann can write so simply in style and yet convey so much.
That said, this was a far, far heavier book than "Wake." There are some serious things addressed here; date-rape, sexual predation, abuse, and it's between teachers and students. It's not intensely graphic, but it's made damn clear how utterly terrifying these situations are, and that had me trembling and holding my breath as Janie tackled the heart of these problems on her dream catching mission to trap her school's sexual predator. I think these things need to be addressed too, because they're real and they actually happen; I've never supported any kind of literary censorship. We need to face these things, however much they disgust and frighten us, and I can't think of any better way to do it than alongside Janie and Cabel. And McMann did it well. Janie also learns some pretty intense things about her future as a dream catcher, just to add a few heartbreaking twists to the story.
I also adored Janie and Cabel's relationship progress in this book. I wouldn't call it "sweet," it's too powerful and complex for that. It's pretty breathtaking though; just the right amount of doubt, desire, banter, sensuality, and growth. They're great, realistically written characters, both of them, the kind I want to meet in real life. And of course Captain is also a fantastic character you get to know better here...man, who wouldn't want to have her for a boss?
I'm glad I don't have to wait too long for Gone...but I'm sure it will feel like ages.

1st read:I wouldn't say this is a "good book" and I don't think I would really recommend it to people, but I couldn't put the stupid thing down. Not as good as the first but it'll do. There were some great lines in this book like when Janie called Cabel and pretended that he was her mom. It was extremely original and I was hooked the whole time, I love our main characters. Although I thought the part when they briefly broke up for 30 pages was unecissary.

Did not like this as much as the first book. Did not like the subject matter, was fairly creeped out and there wasn't enough development of the main protagonists relationship. Getting so tired of this third person narration too. Hope the next book improves on this.
