I love getting lost in a book, I love making new friends, falling in love with fictional characters and exploring new worlds. I was therefore quite excited to dive into this new adventure! Especially since I love Cassidy's writing and the worlds she builds. And luckily I managed to get an arc and didn't need to wait until release day to read the book. Yesterday I was a little too tired to get much reading done, but today I made sure to read the entire book.

This book is action packed from start to finish. Our heroine gets next to no time to take a breath. Every time she survived one encounter another one is already waiting for her. There is a lot of fighting, a lot of different monsters are released and danger is lurking around every corner. I love how this fits the world this story is set in. Even though we haven't seen that much of it, it's clear that this world is dangerous and that everything has a price you might not want to pay.

I have to admit that our heroine and I had some issues connecting and I assume it's because we have absolutely nothing in common. She's literally everything I am not. She walks into this strange world, knowing next to nothing about it, but she's far from intimidated. On the contrary! She is interfering with everything and nothing and it's already quite clear that if our heroine ends up on the throne this entire world is gonna change.

I'm quite curious where the story will go. I'm most of all curious how the characters will grow and how the relationships will develop. At the moment it feels like most of the connections are mostly physical. There has been not much time for the characters to emotionally bond and it feels like a lot of characters are, by now, simply names. I therefore had some trouble keeping everyone apart, but I'm pretty sure things will change in the upcoming books.

What a fantastic start to this series! This was a fast paced read with lots of mystery. The world building is exceptional! The characters are fun and unique. Seven of the characters introduced are spawns of Satan and they are all in competition for daddy dearest’s throne.

Nyx is the main character, a human/demon hybrid who has a companion hound named Chase. She’s a fierce, mysterious, witty, and horny little demon.

We are also introduced to some of her love interests and the spice was pretty hot with Sin & Sev. I may or may not confirm if Sev uses his tail erotically to please Nyx.

I didn't think Debbie could get any better but this book was just wow.
I love the FMC she was brilliant, tough and had me laughing repeatedly.
The guys grew on me throughout the book and definitely had me amused.
The plot was gripping and had me desperate for book 2 instantly

Okay so once again thank you BookTok for providing me with my next easily inhaled series. Nyx is a Nephilim hunter just getting through life with her best pup Chase when she discovers she's the spawn of Satan and is dragged into a competition for the throne. I really enjoyed the base this book has set for this series. There was good lore and world-building and I loved the found family aspect that Nyx forges within the competition as opposed to the expcted hatred. It's an easy, short read and I can't wait to explore the rest of the series (and figure out everyone in the group)

How many of us wish a new found family reveals itself to us as we are older? It's a popular trope for a reason, but I'm betting Nyx is wishing for anything BUT! When Satan dies, Nyx's already busy and exciting life (she is a Hunter) takes a demonic turn when it's discovered that she is the spawn of Satan. One hunt turns into another, and suddenly she is competing with half-siblings for the chance to assume a throne she's not even sure she wants.

Oh, and did I mention that she is HUMAN? Well, mostly. That certainly adds a twist to the new found family dynamic. Now, dash everything with some friendly murder and you have the makings of a demonically good tale.

This is also an RH, with four fantastic love interests, though the heat level isn't burn your face off level just yet. Rather, it's not smut, it's a well-placed growth that moves with the story. I'm still on the fence about who is my favorite, because there is a part of me that screams I have to pick one, even though I am an RH veteran and firmly in the #whychoose camp.

While I ended up loving this novel, I was, for the first time, a bit unsure about a Cassidy book. The beginning opens with a bang, but left me wondering if I had actually picked up book 2 and not book 1! While I was rushing to understand, these characters were throwing obvious development and awareness like pennies, and I was left gapping, a touch confused. And then, wham.... realization dawns, and I realize my doubt was, obviously, misplaced. My faith was quickly restored and I found myself immersed in this hellish world, loving and living it as only Cassidy can inspire.

There are some familiar faces and plenty of new characters to entertain. This is fast, complex and just getting started.

I need the next book. Like now. This was freaking amazing. The pacing was great, and the spice was good. I’m excited to see how it all plays out!

The whole found family thing squeezed my heart and I haven’t found a single book with the found family trope that hasn’t made me cry. I’m just a sap. I loved the dynamic between all of them and them learning how to trust each other.
