I thought the way Rice was interrogating “the meaning of living forever” was very in depth. It truly is a concept that needs to be conceptualized through religion, philosophy and morals. It was still very slow though and hard to continuously read through these types of thoughts while getting introduced to different characters. I did still like it better than IWTV

Much like Interview With The Vampire, I've read this multiple times and have a different and better appreciation for it with each read. Same great storytelling, same compelling character development, same good writing. Maybe a little more of that emotional overwrought-ness, which got a little exhausting after a while, but one of the things I really enjoyed was that it took a character you already knew from the first novel, and told his story in a way that made you realize you didn't know him at all. I thought that the way the two stories were interwoven was pretty brilliant. You never get a feeling like "been there, done that." And it flows so naturally you never feel like it's contrived to hit some plot points. This is a great follow up and a great standalone book however you choose to read it.

Well this book is definetely better then the first one in the series, although I didn't enjoy it that much. I like the character Lestat much better then Louis because he is more sure of himself and not brooding like Louis is. Although this whole issue of immorality and the philosophy behind it and the ever gathering of knowledge is a little boring for my taste. I don't get what the big deal is. Let's hope the series gets better or I am really going to regret reading all of them. Plus they are long books and take forever to read!

Listen, The Vampire Lestat is giving everything it needed to give. It's camp. It's drama. It's "he said/she said." Compared to Interview with the Vampire, which felt like getting cornered at a party by the saddest man alive this book is a shot of pure adrenaline straight to heart.

First off, Lestat being like, “Actually, I’m a misunderstood, glittering saint and Louis is just mad I wouldn’t let him mope in peace,” is the kind of petty rebranding that we should all aspire have. Even if I could see the twist coming actually seeing it still was brilliant.

Gabrielle is iconic she says "Screw societal norms," and runs off into the night to become one with nature. Lestat, your mom is cooler than you, and she knows it. The newer characters like Marius and Akasha? I'm ready for more going forward.

This book is a huge glow-up from IWTV and I’m hooked.
