Lawless and Soulless by T.M. Frazier Narrated by Rob Shapiro and Molly Glenmore
Recommended to read after King & Tyrant
I loved King & Tyrant on audio. But I knew early on that Lawless did not stand alone, so I waited until I could listen to both Lawless and Soulless in a row. I am SO GLAD I DID! OMG, I would have died waiting! I am also glad I took a break between Tyrant and Lawless, because with the same narrators, I may have confused the characters.
Because this wasn't King's book, it was Bear's. And although it is about a different couple than the first two, I would totally recommend you start with King. I had a little crush on Bear right from the beginning of King. Bear is King's best friend and has had a brutal life. Kicked out of the MC he was born into, losing a best friend and being tortured hasn't helped him lighten up, that's for sure. Bear is back and he's as mean as King was.
Thia is only 18, but she has had to become a full grownup at a very young age. When she is struck by yet another tragedy, she goes looking for the man who made a promise to her when she was just a little girl. He told her if she was ever in trouble to find him. What she found when she went looking for Bear was really hard to read (or listen to, in my case). I sobbed while I was driving.
This series is gritty and brutal, and TM Frazier pushes all the boundaries. I never know what to expect with her. But I can tell you, along with the brutality came a love (and lust) from a couple that was destined for each other.
"Never doubt that this pussy has always belonged to me. YOU have always belonged to me."
Yum, Bear was very possessive of Ti the second he laid his eyes on her.
"I wanted to possess her. Own her. CLAIM her."
"Because I'm not stopping at kissing. I'm not stopping until you're mine in every fucking way. I'll try not to hurt you, but this is happening right now. I'm warning you that I want you so much, my version of gentle still might be really fucking hard."
Ti and Bear have both had some really messed up lives, but together, they just worked.

Lawless had so much happening. It was a fast moving, unputdownable rollercoaster. And at the end, you have no choice but to read Soulless immediately.
I am not going to even give away anything about the storyline of Soulless, but know that I cringed, I had to hold on, I needed tissues, and there was always surprises. But through it all was LOVE. The obsessive, possessive love between Bear and Thia, and even more so, the brotherhood and friendship between King and Bear and the gone-but-not-really-gone Preppy who provides the comedy relief. Grace provided a welcome bit of softness to the gritty story, and I absolutely loved her.
“Then there was Ti, and my new happiness became the first time I saw her smile. The first time I kissed her. The first time I tasted her pussy by the fire. The first time she let me inside of her, shamelessly pushing through her virginity in a frantic need to make her mine. Because that's what she was. That's what she would always be. And I will kill every motherfucker who dares to try and take her from me. Mine.”
Oh, just hearing him growl that "Mine" on audio is awesome.
Likes:
- •Great narrators.
- •Just as brutal and gritty as the first two.
- •Lots of catching up with King and Ray.
- •Twists, turns and surprises.
- •Preppy is still haunting everyone.
- •I laughed, cried, freaked, worried, cried again, and freaked again.
- •TM Frazier is not afraid to 'go there' so you never know what to expect.
- •Rage. I'm so excited for her book!
- •Grace lending a little softness to round out the story.
- •The epilogue.
Dislikes:
- •As much as I liked the narrators, I would have liked different ones than from the first 2 books.
The Down & Dirty:
Though I'm not really a "dark romance" reader, I'm not sure I consider this series dark, or more brutal and gritty. It is bloody, violent, suspenseful, emotional, intense and totally sexy. But is is filled with such intense love, it jumps off the pages (or out of the speakers in my case). I am totally hooked on these characters and on TM Frazier's writing. It's amazing how these characters can do the worst things ever, yet Ms. Frazier makes us love them and root for them. This has become one of my favorite series. I can't recommend it highly enough!
Rating: 5 Stars, 5 Heat, 5 Narration

Purchase Lawless by T.M. Frazier
Purchase Soulless by T.M. Frazier

Bear deserves his HEA. I have been craving Bear's story since the end of King and Doe in Tyrant.
Bear never expected anything to come from his brief time with Thia 11 years ago when he left that stupid skull necklace. What did come from it was bad for both of them and something that Bear can never change.
T.M. Frazier is so good at making you fall hopelessly in love with some seriously messed-up characters. Bear has some very tricky personality traits that Thai manages to tame in her own way. She uses her charm and Bear doesn't stand a chance against her, even with the best of intentions in place.
There's some twist and turns to keep you on your toes and I am dying to crack on with the next book.

*Also note this review will contain some explicit language which I normally don't use. I have had a few days to let the story settle, I needed a few days to be able to use my words, but there are no other words for some of the things I have to say. If that bothers you then stop reading now. Really if swearing bothers you then you shouldn't read this book.*
I am a recent T.M. Frazier fan. I just read King and Tyrant not too long ago and loved them both. I just saw so many people recommending them that I had to give them a try (and boy am I glad I did!). If you have read those books then you know Bear already. Man...the author really doesn't hold anything back and one of the things I love about these stories. This is not warm, snuggly, everything is fine all the time read. This is an intense, if I were the girl in the story I would not survive type read. This is not some fairy tale, not a story where people get saved just in the nick of time so nothing truly terrible happens. No this is shit happens and they hopefully are saved/manage to escape before too much damage is done. Then they have to try and deal with whatever happened. Fuck it is intense.
I knew this going in, I knew Lawless would be rough, but holy shit! I knew it, yet it still just blew my mind. I was reading and getting closer to the end and realizing that this wasn't going to all wrap up in this one story, I was going to have to wait for another book, and was trying to keep it together. I got to the end and was like okay...Everything will be okay. You're good Jen. I can wait to see how this situation is resolved. Then there is a sneak peak at Soulless, the next book and continuation of this story, and was just like fuuuuuuck!! That is really the only word for it. I was barely holding it together, but that snippet just tore me apart (in a good way mind you. It is all in a good way). It was just like yeah, Soulless is going to be even more intense, but that is what I love about this author. Most would shy away from really terrible things, but not her. So amazing!
So Lawless. Bear and Thia. Their first meeting is kind of cute, but not in a romantic way. Thia lives in a small town, but things are not the best growing up. Her mom is not all there, but her dad tries his best to keep everything together. She has had so much responsibility for so long and when things take a turn for the much worse she doesn't really know what to do. She doesn't really have friends or anyone to count on since she was always busy trying to keep a roof over her families head. She runs to Bear at the MC club since he made a promise to her when they first met, only he is not there anymore.
Bear has been hold up wasting away his life. He has been staying numb and likes it that way. He is directionless now that he doesn't have the MC. It is kind of sad. I really liked him in King's story and I know he is going through a lot, but I just love him so I want him to be happy. When King calls him to let him know Thia is there and in a bad way he goes to check it out, but he is not expecting to stay. He wants to be in and out and back to his oblivion. After all he has a hit out on him. He is a dead man walking and he doesn't need to bring that to anyones doorstep.
Thia and Bear are just great together. They have so much going on, Bear's old MC is after both of them, and it just seems like they won't ever be able to just be. Thia doesn't really understand the trouble she is in, what would happen to her if she gets locked up or is alone in the world. Bear keeps trying to protect her and keep her safe, but she is not very good at trusting other people. I kept thinking Bear has enough on his plate, I know you are trying to help, but this isn't the way to do it!! She sees herself as being weak if she just hides out, and she doesn't want to be weak. She doesn't realize how incredibly strong she is to be able to deal with everything that happens the way that she does. Plus Bear who wouldn't want Bear?
This story was intense, but a great read. I love that the female characters in these stories don't want the men to change. At all. They know and accept who and what the guys are. They are who they are and they love them. It was cute seeing glimpses of King and Ray and family. You also still get bits of Preppy in this story which make me so happy! He is probably my favorite character of the series. I mean how can you not love him? I miss Preppy, but am glad we get to still experience a bit of his charm. It is a dark world these guys live in, but they manage to find the light, they manage to find a bit of goodness for themselves. Now the countdown to Soulless begins. I can't wait to see what happens next and how Bear and Thia figure everything out. It is going to be a rough ride, but I am ready for it. Until then.

A decent read with a fair amount of ups and downs.
What worked for me
1. Plot- It's action packed.
2. It's dual POV
3. MMC- Bear. The author wrote him with such finesse it's tough not to like him. Sure he's a bit dark, but it is a dark romance.
4. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC- Those two are so cute together. Think of it this way: he'll do anything and everything to protect her.
What didn't work for me
1. FMC- Thia, although young came across as highly immature to me. She came across as a major "pick me" girl, to the point she occasionally tested Bear. Kinda annoying.
2. Insta lust to love romance- It kinda didn't settle with me, the FMC had just gotten raped and the next day she was ready to have sex with Bear. It felt a bit sickening to read.
If you want something dark and twisted, this is the series for you. I was glad to see King and Doe back. Will definitely continue with the series, cause of the cliffhanger lol.
⚠️ Trigger warnings- Drugs, rape, violence, murder, grief. ⚠️

I like this story almost as much as King. I really liked Thia. She is strong, sweet and a badass. Im looking forward to Soulless.
This was an okay read that ended in a cliffhanger. Considering that, I don't think I'm interested enough to read the continuation.
