Open and honest, Busy's story is an emotional roller coaster.
I really enjoyed Busy Philipps' memoir. This book was chronologically written rather than chapters that are more like essays. I think I prefer this type of memoir. I could identify with Busy's childhood and teenager years, since I'm only a few years older than her. The pop culture mentions were relatable to me. I read Babysitters Club books! I love Tori Amos, Nirvana and Arcade Fire. And I watched Freaks & Geeks when it aired in 1999-2000, 1 of my favorite short lived series besides My So Called Life which I *still* can't believe was cancelled after 1 season. While there was a little rambling I didn't mind too much. I appreciated her anecdotes about James Franco, and actor friends of hers. I felt for the things she has gone through that she describes in her memoir. Definitely feel like I could be friends with her if I lived in L.A. which i don't.
If you like celebrity memoirs and you've watched Busy in any of her work, it's not a waste of time to read it.

I swear I could hear Busy reading this to me. Surprising memoir, darker than I expected, but I enjoyed it very much. Busy knows how to tell a story and she doesn’t pull punches with her opinions.A great read that I wish I got around to sooner.
Floating between a 3.5 and 4 star. I enjoy Busy and have followed her career. She writes the way she talks; with lots of filler. She had a tricky childhood/teen years that are difficult. She confirms James Franco is an asshole and a smidge of other celeb dirt.

Thought I'd end up skimming this book to see her thoughts and experiences on specific shows/actors such as Freaks & Geeks and Cougar Town, but it was really good and I read it all. She seems very honest and real, and you can relate to her experiences as a "regular" person.
Not a fluffy escape like I was expecting, but a good dish sesh overall - Philipps is very honest, both about herself and those who have crossed her.
I LOVE BUSY PHILLIPS! After reading this book I am ready to pledge my love to her...so many things in this book made me scream ME TOO!! If you like to laugh & don't mind too many F bombs, you should give this book a chance (on audio of course because her impression of her mom is THE best).
I honestly don't think I've watched one of the movies or TV series she has been in, but I saw enough reviews and mentions of this book to give it a chance to learn more about her - and I'm so glad I did.
