You Don't Know Me

Imran Mahmood

3.67 AVERAGE

I was a bit confused towards the end, like I know Kira did it but why? I thought she loved him? They were together for so long before this thing happened. At least let him know what's happening or about to happen. She made him take all the blame.

Honestly can you blame the guy? He thought he was doing this for his love of his life. He didn't think that it would end up like this.

One more thing, i was a bit upset that we didn't get to hear what's the verdict. But I guess we're our own jury, we may have different verdicts. What can he do? Every single evidence points at him. He can't even prove the Kira is real or Face or Guilty or Curt.

I don't know, I'm torn between giving it a 3 or 4 stars. It's definitely something different, haven't read something like this before. I would recommend it? Maybe...

Guilty. (Legally? Morally?)

Miss gurl admits to assault, threat, battery, attempted murder, secondary participation in murder, obstruction of justice, and then goes: oops, love, Im not really guilty am I?

A fun read but not all that it is claiming to be.

I think you have to suspend belief to imagine this happening in our justice system
The book was a bit drawn out for me and I had to make myself stick with it.
Unlike most people I enjoyed the ending

This was my first experience of listening to an audio book, so it took me a while to get through it.

I really enjoyed the story all the way until the very end. I know that the premise of the plot and story is to put the reader into the position of having to listen and to form an opinion on the guilt or otherwise of the main character who is giving his own closing speech at the end of his trial for murder, however, the ending felt too abrupt to me and I would have preferred a more satisfactory outcome.

Had it not been for the ending, I would definitely have given it four stars. The writing is strong and it does make you question your own thoughts and perceptions. I enjoyed those elements very much.

I regret not putting it of faster. The story is not only slightly unbelievable but what more important it didn't engage me at all. There was one good joke that made me laugh and enjoy this book for a brief moment. That's all. I'm glad I'm done.  The world is black and white for me when I judge this book. It wasn't good unfortunately.

I thought the premise of this book was interesting and looking at other reviews on Goodreads made me feel positive about starting this book. Three and a half weeks later and I've finally finished this book - it's not even particularly long but the in-depth stories and two-dimensional characters started to grate on me. I couldn't remember who was a member of which gang and why I should be rooting for the narrator. Also, I found some of the phrases the character used quite Islamophobic - these offensive comments were used, with no real impact to the story, and there was no challenge to them. Despite an intriguing premise, I couldn't recommend this book.

This was a thoroughly compelling story and I recommend it highly. Had me hooked from start to finish.

Perfect for fans of "The Night Of". Great book.
