This book was an adventure! I enjoyed every second absorbing its story! I missed the Percy Jackson craze growing up and read two of the books and have found it hard to continue given its younger demographic writing style. I would say this book is definitely for those fans who grew up and want more adventure, more fighting, more gore, more realism, more magic.

First, I highly recommend having some background in Greek mythology prior to reading this book

I had such high hopes going into this book and ended up being vastly disappointed. I love all things Greek mythology and the cover is gorgeous so I immediately bought it and started reading it right away. I found myself extremely confused right off the bat trying to keep the characters and bloodlines straight but that resolved itself rather quickly once I got further into the book, but then I started becoming confused about the plot itself. The small romance in the book was very cute at first but then just felt forced after, I felt myself more interested in the main characters friends' romance rather that the main character's. I made it half way in and found myself feeling rushed and overwhelmed with information on the main character's backstory in the few jumps into the past. As new information emerged and more and more plot twists started happening I felt like I couldn't trust any of the characters I had started to love. Im all for a good plot twist but there were so many small ones that I genuinely couldn't keep up. There was so much information and plot packed into one book the ending left me feeling unsatisfied, like the author spent so much time writing but got bored near the end and wrapped it all up in 2 pages.

Dont get me wrong, a lot of the story itself is extremely interesting and the characters are very likeable but I just didn't enjoy reading this book as much as I usually would. I felt more forced to finish it so I could move on rather than wanting to keep reading it. I know this book is a perfect fit for some people, but definitely not for me.

This was dark, but also a lot of fun. I've been really into Greek myths lately and this was great. It got a little teen angsty at times, but it is a YA book and I'm old. That being said, it's definitely for older teens. This book gets gruesome often, and is not a Percy Jackson readalike. This is for the teen into The Hunger Games and Battle Royale.

I know the description of Greek mythology meets Hunger Games is incredibly overused for this book, but there really isn't a better way to describe it. I'm a sucker for any kind of mythology, so I was really hoping to enjoy this book and I definitely did. It was slow in places, especially at the start, but that didn't bother me too much. There were a couple of, for me, predictable elements, but there were also enough twists that I hadn't expected so I didn't mind. I really liked the characters and the way the fantasy elements interacted with the real-world setting.

I'm not sure why it has become a trend for authors to just shove a bunch of knowledge into a book and call it a story, but it has and I am not a fan.

Lore was insanely hyped and I was insanely excited to read it. I found it to be slow, with a ton of information that had very little actual explanation. There were so many "false gods" and "new gods" and "old gods" and titles that made no sense and everything got mixed up so easily.

It also seemed like I was reading a sequel. As if there had been another book with all the world-building and then this one was picking up where the other left off, making the assumption that the reader understood all of the characters and the world when, in reality, I did not.

The end felt rushed. I got to the point where there were only about 50 pages left and was baffled as to how they'd wrap up the story in such a short period of time. I'm still not sure whether the ending was the real ending or if there's supposed to be a sequel.

Needless to say, definitely not one that I enjoyed. I had potential but didn't live up to it.

Incredibly fast paced from beginning to end - these people had a week. A few confusing moments with things being explained at the beginning, a lot of convenience even for a fantasy book (someone is always where they're meant to be), plenty of blood and guts, and a cute ending with some decent character development, so pretty dang good!
