Hooked from the first few chapters!! The plot was very captivating with great characters and their own development throughout. I got so into it I finished it in 24 hours 😅

I really enjoyed this book! It was very character driven, which is something I love. I could clearly see a difference bewtween the characters at the beginning, and at the ending.  I felt like I watched them grow. I liked the mystery too. No specific details but still potential spoiler:
I will say, the whole book is not intensely focused in the 4 kids solving the murder. They live their lives, trying to navigate their new reality, and then a catalyst jump starts their investigating towards the end. But I personally liked that.

I highly recommend, especially if you're not sure you like mysteries!

  • 3.75 ⭐️ because it was a very enjoyable read, but felt that the story and characters were quite basic and nothing new.
  • Re: the pacing, I felt that the reveal of the killer was rushed and just thrown in the reader’s face in one big blob of an explanation.
  • I also thought it would’ve been better if
the 4 main characters were actually involved in figuring out and catching the ones actually involved in the crime. Instead, it was just cooper and addy while Nate was in jail and bronwyn was just not there
  • Characters were pretty well fleshed out but still left more to be desired I felt.
  • Overall I feel meh about this story. It was fun, but didn’t have much of an impact and wasn’t as intense as I thought it would/could be. Struggling a bit to think of anything more to say about this book. I guess I will check out the sequel.

I liked reading this book. While reading, you almost bond with the suspects and cannot believe one of them actually murdered someone. The story was captivating and interesting, it read easily and fast.
In the end I was sad that the relationship ended between BR and NM, but I was relieved after reading the epilogue as there was still hope:)
