I admire Pelosi and what she has accomplished in her career, including her role as Speaker. However, I place her now in the company of other dinosaurs who are fossilizing in the House and Senate, particularly when I see her stumbling over words at press conferences.

This book is almost a paean to her rise from political fundraising figure to the powerful woman she is today. It serves as a reminder of everything she has done to date, but it also does not lionize her-which I appreciated. After reading the book my admiration for Pelosi grew, but my opinion that she should retire from elected positions has not.

GREAT book. Talk about a person who should be leading this country. Not a great speaker in public, but such a power broker. From her upbringing to rise of power. Molly Ball does a great job of capturing Pelosi using leverage to gain what she wants. Did not know about her involvement in AIDS and the quilt. Amazing woman! Very fast read.

Agree with others that the topic and content are fascinating, but the writing (particularly in the beginning and the epilogue) can feel reading like a tabloid magazine.

I really enjoyed reading all of the insider politics stories in this political biography of Nancy Pelosi. This book could come across as biased, because the running theme is that Nancy is always right and things go wrong because men don't listen to her. But I do think she is an admirable trailblazing woman who doesn't get enough credit.

Surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Pelosi prompts strong feelings from many, and there has been a significant investment in media advertising to demonize her. The book is not a deeply personal biography, but focuses on her political and legislative activities while providing good historical context. It is not a hagiography, and the author is neither a Democrat nor a liberal. But it does leave me with a healthy respect for her strength of will, self-discipline, and finely honed political skills. It was a bit long (for my taste), but tightly edited.
Great stuff. (And if you feel compelled to complain about her, well worth a read.)

This book on Nancy Pelosi was extremely interesting. I felt it gave a balanced view of her career. It also provided a peak into how politics works. I was mesmerized by all of the infighting that happens and astonished by all the mistruths put out in the public in order to tilt public opinion. Nancy Pelosi was not made to look like an innocent woman in the world of D.C. instead she was painted as a very strategic person. In finishing the book it didn’t make me a fan of hers but I didn’t hate her either. I felt Molly Ball had the same sentiment.

This biography comprehensively looks at Pelosi’s rise in politics through the Bush, Obama, Trump years. It is compelling. You get a feel for her personal ethos in Congress. You see how she rises and falls and rises again to power. It’s mostly focused on her professional life and I would have found more of a mix of personal with the professional a good addition to this book. From my understanding, Susan Page from USA Today who wrote a bio on Barbara Bush is also working on a Pelosi bio—I look forward to this bio when it’s released.

“‘Nancy, know thy power.’ If someone gives you power, don’t be bashful - use it.”

Highly, highly recommend this book, even if you are not political, or a Democrat, or even if you think Nancy Pelosi is *insert something terrible here*. I learned so much about her and about the administrations she served with, and it read so smoothly that it felt like fiction.
