Unfortunately this was not my cup of tea. I was hoping to learn something but it was written like a text book and it took me forever to read it. I should have DNFd it but I continued to force myself to the end grasping not much.

I liked this book— especially the part about being led by your values— but it did get a bit long and monotonous to me.

Outstanding book! I was first acquainted with this topic when I watched her TED Talk earlier this year. She has great examples and advice throughout the book on how to really see emotions and interpersonal communication advice. I appreciate that she applies her research to parenting and communication with children. Although you might not find the information revolutionary or novel, it was amazing to see connections to other authors or research topics in education that I want to know more about both as a high school teacher and adjunct instructor. Start with the TED Talk then go to the book, oh and take the self-assessment quiz. Really an eye opening read and listen!

I loved every minute of this book. Loved the focus on emotional literacy, flexibility in mindset, and values-based living. I especially loved the last section where it discusses how to teach our children to be Emotionally Agile in addition to being Emotionally Agile ourselves. I will be thinking about this one for a long time and will be trying to be more emotionally agile moving forward!

A self-help book that summarizes some recent psychology research in approachable examples. David manages not to seem condescending, for the most part, and it was cool that she was from South Africa. I checked the eBook out from the library and I didn't realize that a good portion of the book was footnotes until I finished it. That would have been nice to know. It gave good advice but it didn't change my life or tell me all that much that I hadn't already read about. It did make me think about the benefits of NOT being happy sometimes, and how constant happiness isn't an achievable goal.

Audiobook version. This was ok to listen to. Some tidbits but like with most books of this type can feel repetitive. Might be better in hard copy to skim through more of the highlights or areas you think may be more applicable.
