Was recommended this book for a project I'm working on and needed some inspiration for it, however I just couldn't find it within myself to finish this. I was fully aware going in that this isn't really a romance in the traditional sense and falls into the category of "dark romance" though I would hesitate to call it that either. No, it wasn't really the dark aspects that made this a DNF for me. It's just not good. I expected a lot more from this than I should have but I'm glad to be done reading it, at least.

This isn't erotica... this is a horror novel about rape. I contemplated putting it down so many times, but since I HAVE to finish a book, I carried on. Ugh. Just terrible that people are raving about this book. It's not romantic whatsoever!

Great plot. Amazing writing. Unique style.

This is not the first dark romance I read, but it quickly became one of my faves. I am currently on the second book, flipping the pages like crazed fiend, wanting to know what happens next. For those that haven't read it; what are you waiting for? Come on...pick it up....I DARE YOU ;)

rather disturbing but not nearly as bad as i was expecting. don't really have any interest in reading the cliff hanging sequel though

A little disturbing -- as it focuses on human trafficking, however I still enjoyed the story, and started to care for our heroine. Our hero is a bit of an anti-hero...he is not all good, in fact, much of what he does is despicable. He has his reasons, though I don't think they excuse what he has become.

Much better than I thought it was going to be. I was looking for a Stockholm Syndrome trope. I found one and more. The book did make me cringe as expected at the brutal scenes but C.J. Roberts did such a great job making the reader fall in love with the devil, it wasn't nearly as cringe worthy. It's a beautiful story.

Kind of disappointed in this one.

I'm usually all for a book about human trafficking but this one moved so slow. I didn't feel like the characters progressed evenly through the novel. I felt like the "hero" developed more as a character than the heroine which is strange because he's a secondary character.

The heroine just annoyed me the whole time. I understand that she's eighteen and she's just been stolen and forced into captivity but she still irritated me.

I liked it but I probably won't continue on with the series. I read the next chapter of the next book and I'm over it already.
