Fae, vampires, and a morally grey love interest? Sign me up. I was giggling, crying, kicking my feet, and raging all within pages of each other. The perfect book to read when you’re looking for the vibes you got reading ACOTAR or Gild for the first time.

World building isn’t great, very dull and lifeless and there’s no real point that the stakes at hand. Nothing is ever fully explained. Like 70% of the book was sex scenes (that were incredibly repetitive.) Felt very fanfiction-y. Definitely not for my age
this was fun. it’s a little different than you’re typical fae story and i believe it’s the first i’ve read that also has vampires so that’s cool (fbaa is not technically fae, right? and not technically vampires lol?)
and yes, the last like 30-40% is basically the last quarter of from blood and ash. but honestly, this book might do it better, at the very least exactly the same, but with less than half of the total page count of fbaa. which i find impressive
there’s definitely a lack of world building, both at the beginning before Adara is taken and somehow still after, even though she is thrown into a whole new world. Adara takes several trips to library but we learn like one thing along with her. i need to know more about this world lol
this is not a book without flaws, that’s for sure, but i’m a sucker for fated mates so you know i’ll be reading the sequel

All I'll say is if you enjoyed From Blood and Ash, I think this book is a bit better. I already can't wait to start the second book in the series.
